Lieutenant Cody immediately rushes to find Harold. He eventually catches up to him and asks him to return back to the barracks. Harold decided to march onto the battlefield alone so that he could take care of things without bothering anyone else. Cody tries his best to convince Harold to come back with him, but he doesn’t budge. When all else fails, Cody decides to fight Harold head-on and take him back.

Cody realized that this was the only way to make Harold listen, as he doesn’t want him to walk straight into death. As Cody and Harold face off, the story goes back 20 years back. Cody and Vincent are kids. They sit in the meadows under a tree. Vincent is excited because the Holy Royal Chivalric Order is coming to the Public square. Cody wasn’t all that interested because he just wanted to fall asleep.

Cody tells Vincent to wake him up once it is evening time, and looking at Cody’s sleep makes him fall asleep too. Once they woke up, they saw their entire village in flames. The village had been attacked by bandits, and everyone was fleeing. Cody and Vincent rush toward their homes to search for their parents.

Cody meets his dad and asks about his mom. His dad doesn’t answer any of his questions and gives him a sword. He tells Cody to take Vincent and escape their town. He also gave Cody a sword and asked him to use it in self-defense.

All of a sudden, a monster charges toward them. Cody’s father pushes him out of the way but ends up getting attacked. They watch Cody’s dad get eaten by a monster and immediately run away. Not being able to handle what is going on, Cody tries to end his life but stops immediately. He looks at Vincent and realizes that if he’s gone, nobody will protect Vincent. Both of them embrace each other and promise to follow each other as there is nobody else left to help them.
