The Devil and Duke Howard have finally made a move. Seeing everything that has happened, it is safe to say that Howard has finally gone insane. His decision to launch a full-on assault on the Main character despite them not being prepared is definitive proof of his cowardice but it is only natural as he’s someone who has sold his soul to the devil and would go to any lengths to please him.
Of All Things, I Became A Crow Chapter 81 was released on April 23, 2023, and we witnessed the full-on assault on Galos, the emperor. Even though the assault got subdued almost instantly, the worst nightmare came to life soon after as Reinelle’s intuitions came true. The spirit of the devil has entered the castle by breaking through the barriers and has made its way towards the emperor.
Reinelle is still stunned by this mess but he would need to quickly make use of her crow instincts and save everyone before it’s too late! If the devil wins this battle, it’s over for everyone! Of All Things, I Became A Crow Chapter 81: Recap
Most of the Imperial nobles end up just learning. Even if they hold a sword unless they have a knighthood. The only blades they’re good at are tableware and paper knives and even that is too weak to harm a person. These reasons make it perfect for anyone to attack the emperor while he’s busy during a meeting. Most people don’t get checked thoroughly and so it’s easy to sneak in any kind of weapon but what everyone forgets is the forces who defend the Emperor. Even if one gets close to the emperor, they won’t be able to do anything unless they defeat the guards.
Many people suddenly attack Galos forcing him to take action himself. The small assault soon turns into a huge mess and Reinelle realizes that all these people are aristocrats which means that the person behind this is Duke Howard. Reinelle still can’t figure out why would Howard send such weak Aristocrats instead of trained assassins because this way he’s sure to lose. She thinks of the main objective here as she starts feeling insecure. When all of the aristocrats get caught, Reinelle starts to feel a strange energy growing inside the aristocrats but she can’t figure out what it is.
Galos inquires the captured people as to why they attacked him and they reply that they were forced and suddenly all of them start trembling. Reinelle wonders how no one else could sense such vivid energy when she gets reminded of the attack on her in the zoo, she believes that it was not an animal but something else. Reinelle suddenly collapses but Galos catches and asks her to take a rest. Galos then walks up to a man who has also collapsed and asks him to stop pretending to be sick.
Reinelle decides to believe the crow instincts inside her and asks Galos to get away from those people. Galos gets puzzled but he soon sees the man turning into a monster and falls back. The other aristocrats also turn into monsters while all of them scream in agony. Outside the castle, Myrdin senses the spirit of the devil and wonders how it crossed his barriers.
Meanwhile, Duke Howard looks at his chess board and thinks of his unbelievable plan and how he let the aristocrats die as a sacrifice for the devil. He discusses his next steps with the devil and asks him if he would actually be able to succeed. The devil explains human nature and how it can’t be manipulated by magic or divine power which makes Howard even more curious as he asks how will the devil succeed. He replies that because he has done this before and so even when the Emperor would die in the castle, no one would believe it was due to the devil.
The devil declares that he is going to change the world as a whole and that no one can stop him now. The focus shifts to Reinelle and her crow instincts and the chapter ends hinting towards the fact that Reinelle might come up with something.
