She should have broken down at the sight of it, knowing her childhood had been a lie all along. However, this only made her more resolute and gave her unexpected strength of character.
She confronted Johanna with this knowledge and forgives him for his intentions, making the bedridden man saddened by his life choices. But to Shuri, it was not as simple as him having different intentions, she looked at the whole picture instead. And looking at it realized that his actions have helped her in the long run and that he has changed as well.
Johanna was not able to forgive himself in those sick moments and with nothing to make amends he returns to his recovery. Shuri on the other hand how different her life would have been if her family was like Johanna too. No matter his intentions, his upbringing helped her in more ways than one, for which she could never return enough.
