HBO has produced record-breaking TV shows throughout the years. Recently, television networks have often found fan-favorite games to be the inspiration for their next big project to capture the market. Although, most of the projects based on games have not impressed the fans at all due to poor directional changes and loopholes.
Integrating popular games into real-life movies and TV shows produce huge hype in social media, and therefore, this is attempted more and more by the well-known film industry. HBO took the mantle of producing a real-life representation of probably one of the most popular games of the 21st century, The Last of Us.
The Last of Us is still a notable name in the gaming industry, and it is still selling copies throughout the world in a profitable number. Therefore, you can understand that a poor representation of this beautiful apocalyptic story of Joel and Ellie would certainly create a rather negative outcome for HBO’s legacy. However, till now, the series has become one of the most popular and trending series of all time (it is not even finished!).
The Last of Us series fans got to see the death of a few characters that seemed to be a key factor in the series. Starting from Joel’s daughter, Sarah Miller (Nico Parker), Tess (Anna Torv), to Henry (Lamar Johnson).
The love story and death of Bill (Nick Offerman) and Frank (Murray Bartlett) has undoubtedly brought about a healthy, wholehearted, and melancholic representation of how good the series can be, even without a few zombies wrecking havoc. For that, the writers Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin must be praised.
In episode 6 of this series, we saw a shocking end, or rather a cliffhanger, that made all the fans rush to social media to find out what would happen to Joel. If you didn’t know, Joel got stabbed while fighting against a couple of hunters, and the episode ended on a cliffhanger where Joel was seemingly dying.
Alas! Will Joel really die in the hands of the hunters? Here’s what we know about the future of Pedro Pascal’s Joel.

The Last Of Us: Episode 6 Recap
Joel and Ellie travel to the west, where rumors suggest that dangerous groups of human beings hunt people who pass through. His brother used to be a firefly, and therefore, Joel expected to get valuable information regarding their headquarters location.
He finds out that Tommy is now married and expecting a child with another survivor of a place that gives the vibes of 20th-century western culture.
Horses, Hats, and Boots are prevalent throughout the episode. Joel has been getting panic attacks throughout the episode, and he opened up to Tommy about how he used to be a warrior, but now, he is a scared and weak individual. He asks Tommy to take Ellie to the Firefly settlement to extract the cure; however, another strong conversation takes place in this episode, this time – between Joel and Ellie.

Did Joel Die In Episode 6?
Well, to be completely honest with your question, no. Joel does not die in this episode, nor will he die so soon. Be sure to put focus on the “so soon” because, spoiler alert, this is what you can expect next in the series.
In the game, Joel did not really die after getting stabbed, and rather, this scene was to put more focus on Ellie’s perspective in the second half of the series. The showrunners have not yet revealed the back story of Ellie. Therefore, you can expect that in episode 7.
Joel will not die yet. As per the story of the game, Joel will take Ellie to the Firefly center, and they will reveal the process of making the cure. Joel will disagree and kill the fireflies and take Ellie away without her knowledge. He will lie to her that the fireflies turned against them, and he saved them. However, the truth is – Ellie had to die to make the cure, and Joel could not bear to lose another “daughter.”
Joel’s death comes later on in the game – The Last of Us Part II. Well, that’s a story for another time. Till then, enjoy the series, and thank you!
