Electric Daisy Festival has been around for more than 27 years; it calls leading artists of the show and music industry. It showcases impressive artists with music and dancing performances. We have come a long way since the EDC’s inception, and this article will dive a deeper dive into the festival’s culture and how it upgraded over the years through facts and points that may have slipped under the radar.
Tell me, do you know which DJ gave its musical beats for the past 20 years in Las Vegas at EDC? Can you guess which label sent the maximum number of artists from their squad?
The magnitude and scale of EDC’s popularity are much more than a DJ’s music and dance party; it is a world-class display of artists, neon-colored drinks, costumes, and rides; girls in bold outfits, arts, and the artists and many other futuristic fun things. All of these things are known, and this list tries to fill in those tiny facts and details that are underrated and left out about Sin City’s EDC.
So if you ever get the chance to visit the LAS Vegas EDC, do not miss it; it is a must-go even at least once. I can assure you it will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

EDC draws so many people that it can fill a city
Each night, more than 134,000 festival-goers enter over the course of three days, which amounts to more than 400,000 people. Which size is that? More than Cleveland’s population. Also, compared to Cleveland, people have a lot more fun at EDC.
You can wear anything that you want
Participants are asked to dress in whatever they feel most comfortable in and be themselves. This can include hairy boots, string bikinis, vibrant wigs, and animal-inspired attire. Girls sometimes remove their tops entirely and cover their nipples with pasties. Large chains, jewelry with spikes, gloves light up with LEDs, pacifiers, and gas masks. Simply follow the rules; don’t inquire.
It almost takes more than two months to bring all of it together
To set up the whole festival at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, 305 utilities, 100 forklifts, 133 towers filled with amazing lighting, golf carts, 70 aerial lifts, and more than 500 motor coaches are always present at their disposal. This contains four Ferris wheels, 8 stages, 18 extravaganza rides, and 5,000 staff members. The total size of the whole place, the parking lot, is 910 acres.
All of them are not paid to go inside and have fun
Throughout the planned events, 500 theatrical performers are employed to socialize. On the EDC website, anyone may apply for the position; pay attention to this, they’re looking for people who have experience in theater.
770+ artists have shown their skills at EDC
This number is massive by the standards of Las Vegas.
Most of the guests are from around the world
Fans of EDC come from more than 60 countries and all 50 states. There are many native Nevadans (is there such a thing?), but more than half are foreigners, mostly from Colorado, Texas, California, and Arizona.
Many of the visitors get married at EDC; yes, the count is more than you can imagine
It’s no secret that EDC has a church on the property, but you’ll be surprised by its use. Since the EDC migrated to Las Vegas, more than 300 legal marriages have been celebrated there. There will really be two chapels this year due to its popularity. The Chapel of Future features a modern-technology; the Chapel of Nature is organic and earth-inspired. Each year many couples get married at the EDC festival.
15 minutes of fun fireworks are set off on the weekend
You can calculate how many fireworks there are each night using the calculator on your watch. You’ll see them often, but EDC must adhere to stringent rules and regulations: the fireworks may only be set off in certain locations, and the scale and nature of each performance are meticulously organized beforehand.
It takes a lot of electricity to power the three-day festival
The three-day extravaganza consumes 22.5 megawatts of electricity, which is equal to 14,625 households.
A new festival was planned to be bigger
Pasquale Rotella, the founder and CEO of Insomniac Events, never foresaw that EDC would be his largest festival. He had always imagined that Nocturnal, his first EDM festival, would be more lengthy. EDC began in 1997 in the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles with 5,000 attendees. By 2010, it had branched out to regions like Colorado and Texas, overflowing the Los Angeles Coliseum. The most important edition would move from Los Angeles to Las Vegas a year later, with attendance year after year. Currently, there are eight phases, as opposed to merely one at the beginning.
The post office is not a post office
A post office that sells handmade postcards featuring images of EDC over the years to fans is one of the new additions this year. On-site postage can be can shipped. A tavern with a full bar and a theater for stand-up comedy, magic performances, puppet shows, and costumed characters are new additions to EDC.
Strong WI-FI, Strong Internet
Mobile reception is notoriously poor at EDC; they provide free Wi-Fi in Carnival Square to help. The Speedway has a section with silly extravaganza actions, Ring-a-Duck and Balloon Popper.
Too much crowd, so your meeting spot can get lost
Meeting up with friends may be demanding; those who have attended EDC are aware. Due to those intermittent cell networks, messages take some time to be received. To avoid delays, always include the current time in the body of your message. Make sure it’s not a moving work of art if you’re deciding where to meet. Pick a permanent spot because many of the displays involve moving, fire-breathing, and crowd-wiring automobiles. Put your phone on airplane mode if you aren’t messaging at all.
Too much drinking water, that too for free
More than 500,000 water bottles are filled freely. EDC urges everyone to drink as much water as possible because it gets quite hot in Las Vegas in summer. Five hundred twenty thousand bottles were filled at free water stations in 2015. And it is filtered, yeah.
The best photo-capturing location is the Ferris wheel
The one at Carnival Square is the one we’re referring to; when you go to the top, you’ll have a unique 360-degree view of the event from the building.
Only Las Vegas EDC is open from morning to evening.
A select number of US, UK, Japan, Mexico, and Brazil, host the Electric Daisy Carnival. The largest of them all is the Las Vegas flagship version, though. EDC had a total economic effect of $1.3 billion during the first four years. The daily GDP of New Jersey is that much, which equates to the cost of more than 10,000 Tesla Model S electric cars.
First EDC
The first EDC happened at the Los Angeles Expo Hall. Daft Punk had released Homework, the first album, and The Prodigy was making the controversial but award-winning video of Smack My Bitch Up. At the age of 15, A-Track won the first DMC World DJ Competition, and hence EDC, an electronic carnival, was born.
1-Day Festival to 2-Day Festival
In 2009 EDC became a two-day festival from being a one-day show, and later in 2011, it grew into a three-day electronic show.
Stage Names
Famous stage names like Circuit Grounds, Kinetic Field, Bass Pad, Cosmic Meadow, and Neon Garden came in 2005. In the same year, we saw artists like Kaskade and Ferry Corsten.

Exponential Growth in Attendance
The EDC has gained popularity; it is evident to see the growth from 6000 attendees in 1997 to more than 400,000 in 2016.
Just want to dance
The 2016 edition of EDC is to be one of the musically most varied, before the emergence of Dutch-influenced big-room electro-house from 2009 onwards, which culminated in 2012, the year of the victory and what was probably the festival’s most “mainstream” iteration, house music and drum N bass dominated the lineups in the mid-2000s since EDC has started to include deeper, more subterranean cuts again.
First, Every European Hard-Style
It was the first time the European hard-style behemoth Q-dance had ever performed at the Bass-Con’s new stage in 2012. Introducing the genre to many Americans, only hope for two lightning hits.
First Performance
In 2005, together with Infected Mushroom, Ferry Corsten and Kaskade performed at the first EDC. 2006 was Bassnectar’s debut performance. Paul Oaki, a trance official, and the first time Above & Bovond pushed the electric sky were both introduced to us in 2007. Finally, Paul Van Dyk, a legend, in 2008 in 2016, saw his triumphal return.
Repeated Performances
The co-founder of Ram Records, Andy C, and the drum and bass junglist Fury have both performed at EDC. Each appeared 9 times between 2000 and 2016. Christopher Lawrence, a house heavyweight, is just behind. Alongside 8 performances each, DJ Dan and Kaskade share the 7x position with artists like 12th Planet. Beyond 8 and Above. Afrojack. Benedetta Benassi. Father Life, with Infected Mushroom and Dieselboy.
Unbroken Streak
Andy C had a streak of 8 years, which ended in 2016. On the other hand, Dada Life and Afrojack made seven consecutive appearances.
EDC is filled with Surprises
For many years, EDC has had surprise sets and special appearances from guests. Among the notable ones was Krewella’s dubstep performance at BassPod in 2014. … the year before that, when DirtyPhonics wore Guy Fawkes masks.
Dillon Francis shut down Cosmic Meadow, while Kaskade astonished everyone with a special Redux performance in the early hours in the Mayan Warrior Art Car. The 20th-anniversary edition of EDC will have surprises, according to Pasquale. Keep an open ear!
New Stages from 2016
The stages of EDC 2016 were new. Insomniac has a reputation for establishing the bar for stage production. In 2014, the famous “Kinetic Cathedral” broke the record. At 440 feet, it is the tallest stage ever erected in North America.
It is broader than the Statue of Liberty and longer than a football pitch. Scaffolding weighing over a million pounds was used.
Largest Span Structure
In 2014, Circuit Grounds broke the record for the biggest clear-span structure in the world, with a height of more than 400 feet.
According to Pasquale Rotella, the stage this year will be almost three times as large and include a 360-degree design. Taking into account that the 2015 Circuit Grounds took up 48.000 square feet.
A stage that is three times as large suggests a dome-shaped building that is more than 420 feet wide.
Good use of Extra Space
The extra space will be welcome as EDC gathers the largest group of electronic music fans ever assembled. Including guests from 50 states and over 40 countries. Forming a global summit of dance music that will bear witness to.
Free Parking Spots
The Las Vegas Motor Speedway has more than 40,000 free parking spaces available for the Electric Daisy Carnival, although there will be some traffic. If you want to arrive in style, charter a private helicopter with Maverick Helicopters.
They provide a perspective of the festival grounds and the renowned Las Vegas Strip that most people will never get to see. Taxis and shuttle services are also offered. However, they are booked out, so make reservations in advance.
Fans can also participate
The essential component in creating an amazing EDC experience is fan creativity. This year, prizes will be given to those of you who arrive at EDC Vegas dressed in the most lavish and creative costumes.
Range of Events in every EDC
The Bassrush Massive concert at the Orleans Arena and the EDMbiz Conference at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas are just two of the highlights of EDC Week. Other highlights include a variety of nightlife events, pool parties, and after-hours sponsored by world-class venues. Before visiting the festival grounds, we urge everyone to take advantage of everything that Las Vegas has to offer.
Posh Vip Arrangement
The Marquee Nightclub created the VIP observation decks and table service with luxurious chairs, floating chandeliers, and exclusive waitstaff. The advantages include a spectacular view of the kineticFIELD stage, a complete bottle service menu, attentive service, private toilets, and quicker access to the bar service.
Music is not the only thing
EDC was founded with the intention of using music and art to inspire people, as stated on their website and elsewhere online. People also encounter three-dimensional superstructures, vibrant glow-in-the-dark settings, and LED-infused flora and fauna in addition to the music.
The interactive art pieces dispersed throughout EDC, the varied carnival performers that stroll among the throng, and the assortment of both exhilarating and soothing carnival rides all play a significant role in the experience and help to set this festival apart from others. EDC wants to be a location where people can interact, both on and off the dance floor.
To create a unique environment and to reach such a vast audience, several distinctive aspects come together. Everyone is encouraged to rove, investigate, engage with, and connect with the artists. The units of exchange here are imagination and good vibes.
Beautiful production and Stage Design
Every year, EDC appears to surpass not just themselves but even Tomorrowland’s main stage, as the main stage only continues to become better and better! Every year, the main stage is built differently, in keeping with the chosen theme.
For instance, in one edition, the main stage was built to resemble a huge cathedral, replete with stained-glass windows that were really enormous LED panels. Even bigger water fountains were installed by the production team, one on either side of the stage. Resources may also be found that discuss the main stage’s 1,000 square meters of TV screen.
Once in a Lifetime Experience
The combination of this one-of-a-kind experience and the production team’s meticulous attention to detail makes EDC Las Vegas an unforgettable event.
The founder and CEO of Insomniac, Pasquale Rotella, refers to the attendees as “Headliners” since he always wants to place them at the center of every choice and interaction pertaining to the EDM event.
Every dance music enthusiast must attend the festival at least once in their lifetime because of this mentality and commercial choice, which made it one of the best experiences in the history of dance music festivals. The group, under Rotella’s direction, constantly goes above and beyond to include a special and unexpected aspect in the performances each year.
For instance, Rotella and TV legend Billy Nye, aka The Science Guy, collaborated to develop the theme for the 2019 EDC, kinetic energy. All of this goes back to the original premise of putting on a spectacle unlike any other for the audience, which helped create EDC, the largest event in the USA.
Long Event
The festival took place on May 21, 22, and 23, 2021, with the opening ceremony taking place from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and the grounds being open from 7:00 pm to 5:30 am each day.
Yes, you read that right. People partied until dawn, and the only ‘downtime’ will be between 5:30 am and 7:00 pm. However, keep in mind that there are a tonne of things to do and places to check out, so you won’t really have much ‘downtime’ after all. Instead, you’ll be busy taking in every aspect of the festival, getting to know new people, and making new friends.
Talent all-across
All genres of talent, from the mainstream to the underground, are represented. Everything from the creative installations to the DJ music sets may be enjoyed with an open mind. Insomniac will undoubtedly never run out of amazing talent to exhibit on their grounds each year, and with their tremendous expertise of over 25 years, they’re the best at picking the cream of the crop! Every top producer from all over the world aspires to play at EDC Las Vegas!
Rides in the carnival
The environment at EDC is like an enormous playground with all of your favorite full-size thrills. You’ll experience EDC in a completely new way, from soothing to thrilling!
When it comes to the arts, EDC Las Vegas welcomes you into a world of 3D superstructures, vibrant, glow-in-the-dark settings, and all kinds of flora and fauna that have been injected with LEDs. The interactive art installations dispersed around EDC are an integral part of the experience. They are technological and natural bridges built by the producers and teams to inspire everybody who comes into contact with them.
On the other hand, EDC also showcases happy bands of what they refer to as the “Funkdafied Freaks.” They are EDC’s well-known stilt walkers, aerialists, carnival performers, and other eccentric characters. This varied group, dressed in extravagant costumes made especially for Insomniac (the festival’s production company), will dazzle you, amaze you, and play with you all night.
There is a theater for all the theater lovers
You read it correctly! Themed bars and an outdoor theatre are available during EDC Las Vegas. At the karaoke bar decorated in the manner of Tokyo, you may even perform yourself! There are so many things to do and attractions that are made in such a way to keep you entertained and pass the time.
Additionally, the production crew built five stunning chapels for people who wanted to get married on the festival grounds. The limit? No problem, just use the free Commitment Deck to declare your love for your bestie. Then dance at the Headlight Disco or Silent Disco while wearing headphones or in the dark. For you, Downtown EDC Las Vegas!
We’d want to highlight how all these components come together with such a focus on the attendees, the headliners, and giving them the finest immersive experience as we reach the finish of this trip into EDC Las Vegas. Due to its commitment, this festival has grown to be the best in the USA and one of the most distinctive and in-demand events in the dance music industry worldwide.
The Insomniac production crew, led by CEO Pasquale Rotella, is united by great enthusiasm for both the surrounding community and the music that we all like. They are here because of that neighborhood. People are the lifeblood of EDC and the reason it has achieved success.
Impact of an active community
EDC is more than simply a music festival; it’s a community where individuals can come together and genuinely feel at home. Many guests see it as an opportunity to disconnect from the outer world and get fully immersed in a group of people who value and accept them for who they are.
EDC is a place where everyone is welcome, regardless of whether you are a die-hard lover of EDM or are simply seeking to try something new in the chaos of life. You are immediately surrounded by individuals who share your passion for music and who are ready to form new relationships as soon as you set foot on the festival grounds.
However, the EDC community extends beyond its visitors. The festival’s planners put a lot of effort into fostering inclusiveness and acceptance. They urge guests to be themselves and treat others with dignity, and they collaborate closely with neighborhood groups to foster civic engagement and community service.
A huge celebration of Music
EDC is fundamentally a celebration of music and its capacity to unite people. It provides guests with a unique chance to meet with others who share their passion for electronic dance music and revel in the excitement and fervor of live music.
But EDC’s feeling of community extends beyond its musical offerings. It involves upholding the ideals of diversity, uniqueness, and acceptance—values essential to developing a feeling of community and real human relationships.
