One of the things the Insidious franchise was best known for was its unique horror. It is not just your jump scare demon possession movie. There is a lot to love about vintage horror films when a monster takes over a nice little house. Insidious from 2011 and the remaining movies in the series all do this. In such a way that after finishing the series, you’ll be looking for more horror films that will terrify you on a similar deeply unsettling level as Insidious. Should you require a reminder.
Insidious chronicles Josh and Renee Lambert as they settle blissfully into their new house with their two boys, Dalton and Foster. Their oldest son tragically enters a coma after unintentionally falling from a tall ladder and suffering a severe head injury. His parents are baffled by the physicians’ reports that he shows no evidence of brain damage. They are forced to hire a paranormal detective as dreadful, frightening things begin to happen. 1. Crimson Peak (2015)
The mother who watched for Edith Cushing while she was a child perished when she was still little. She aspires to become more than merely a lady of childbearing age because of her Victorian upbringing. She develops feelings for the intriguing foreigner Thomas Sharpe.
After a string of encounters and occurrences, she gets married to Thomas and moves in together with Lady Lucille Sharpe, farther from her familiar surroundings. 2. Case 39 (2009)
Before meeting Lilith, 10, and her harsh family, Emily Jenkins, a case worker with several years of experience, believes she has witnessed everything. Emily takes possession of Lilith because the parents attempt to hurt the kid and search for a foster home at the same time.
But she quickly realizes that evil powers are all about the young girl, and the harder she attempts to safeguard her, the more horrific things happen.

3. Drag Me To Hell (2009)
The haughty Romani lady, Mrs. Ganush, is appealing to the kind and frail mortgage lender, Christine, for a longer postponement on her mortgage while kneeling on the ground. 5. It Comes At Night (2017)
After an unexpected epidemic of a deadly and contagious virus, Paul, his spouse Sarah, plus their boy Travis have isolated themselves in a rigorous self-quarantine, cooped up in the barricaded home deep within the perilous forest. When that happens, communication with the external community is minimal to what is essential.
Yet, the tricky balance of affairs will suddenly change if a household in need of shelter and food decides to reside in Paul’s home. A tense atmosphere where the adversary may be anybody, including themselves, slowly gives way to suspicion and, ultimately, psychosis as the two families’ difficult cohabitation continues.

6. Lights Out (2016)
For Paul’s psychologically unstable spouse, Sophie, with Paul’s teenage son Martin, not much seemed to have altered in the decades after their dad Paul’s unexplained and horrific demise in his textile mill. In reality, Sophie’s health deteriorates noticeably as a result of her frequent chats with the evil monsters she is acquainted with, which endanger Martin’s survival at a time when he requires Rebecca, his elder stepsister, greater than ever.

Madison quickly experiences terrifying nightmares involving a creature and terrible killings. Madison intends to share her nightmares with others once she understands that the killings are occurring in real life.

8. Oculus (2013)
Two brothers who have been troubled by a tragedy from their youth discover that an enigmatic mirror with a troubling past is the cause of their terror. When Kaylie and Tim’s mom and dad were brutally murdered, they were still just teens. Tim is serving his prison sentence after being found guilty of the murders and given state custody as Kaylie sinks into a pit of sorrow.
Years later, a recently released Tim makes every effort to put the past behind him. Kaylie, in contrast, hand, is confident that her sibling was blameless throughout and that the old mirror has the solution to her most troubling queries. When the lengthy-looking lens is found, Kaylie’s worst fears are realized to be true: the mirror is possessed by a terrifying power that has doomed every person who has ever owned it.

9. Dead Silence (2007)
Every community has a unique horror story, and in the area of Ravens Fair, a regional fable tells of a ventriloquist by the moniker of Mary Shaw. She was charged with kidnapping a little child who shouted out during one of her shows, claiming that she was a phony in the 1940s when she went insane. Townsfolk started looking for her as a result, and in the utmost act of retaliation, they murdered her by cutting off her tongue.
They believed they had quieted her permanently when they entombed her with her “babies,” a homemade group of vaudeville figures. A young American lady named Greta gets a job as a babysitter for an 8-year-old boy in a small English village. After breaking several harsh rules, Greta starts to wonder if the doll could be sentient, which results in a series of scary and perplexing events.

11. Sinister (2012)
True-crime author Ellison Oswald is struggling; it has been more than ten years since his last success, and he is becoming eager for one. When he learns that there is a snuff film depicting a family being slaughtered, he decides to solve the mystery. He relocates his family there before beginning work.
However, Ellison learns through ancient video tapes and other clues that there may be mystical power there that remaining at the mansion might be harmful. 12. The Orphanage (2007)
Laura, a former orphan, cares for her adopted kid Simón with her husband Carlos in an old house that was formerly an orphanage where she was raised. Laura believes Simón’s allegation that he has five ghost buddies with him in the facility is merely a fabrication of his imagination. In addition to arranging a party, Laura decides to reopen the orphanage and welcome underprivileged kids.
During the party, Simón tries to persuade Laura to stop by his mate’s cabin, but she is too busy. Later, when she sees a mysterious boy wearing a disguise, she finds out that Simón disappeared as well. Laura called in a team of parapsychologists to look into the matter months after she first saw that there were other people on the property.

13. Silent Hill (2006)
After Sharon’s several instances of sleepwalking, the decision was taken to take the little child of Rose Da Silva to Hill, a place that only exists in her disturbing imagination. Unfortunately, getting to Silent Hill is not an easy journey, and Rose starts a high-speed chase with a policeman that finally ends in a crash.
Rose wakes up to find Sharon gone and stands at the entrance to the bizarre town of Silent Hill. While searching for her daughter, Rose finds herself in a scary and enigmatic scenario. Rose is lured farther and further into Silent Hill’s terrible past as she begins a hopeless search for her beloved daughter.

14. Carrie (2013)
Carietta “Carrie” White is an outsider who endures relentless bullying every day from a group called the “in Crowd,” which is led by the brutal tyrant Chris Hargensen. 15. The Strange House (2020)
For Halloween’s sake, guys. This story begins in a manner reminiscent of numerous spooky tales about haunted houses. In a sweet tiny village in southern Austria, a family moves. Hendrik, 16, and his sister Eddi suffer after being forced to leave their old life behind and start over.

16. The Woman In Black (2012)
Arthur Kipps, a lawyer in London, receives the private papers of the late Mrs. Drablow and transports them to the village of Crythin Gifford for examination. 17. Dark Skies (2013)
The Barrett family lives in an unnamed American city on a peaceful residential street with mother Lacy, father Daniel, older brother Jesse, and younger brother Sammy. Daniel’s employment has ended; therefore, Lacy, a real estate salesman, is now responsible for providing for the family. Their two boys get along well and use walkie-talkies to communicate while they sleep. In the house, a lot of unusual things frequently happen.
One night, a noise coming from Sammy’s room wakes Lacy up. When she moves closer to see, she notices a person standing over his cot in the shadows. Sammy is seen exiting the house, but he is still unsure of what happened. Each time Daniel, Lacy, or Jesse experience a catatonic episode, they reawaken with no memory of what happened.

18. The House Of The Devil (2009)
College student Samantha Hughes accepts a weird nanny position in a desperate bid to get money so she can buy a brand-new house. In addition to citing a full moon eclipse, Mr. Ulman tells her that there isn’t a child at the house and that Samantha will be watching his mother when she arrives.
After exploring the sinister-looking home, Samantha learns that her superiors are hiding terrible secrets and want to use her, whether she is alive or dead. The eventual appearance of three corpses within one of the rooms suggests that the family in the photographs are the actual inhabitants of the residence.

19. Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark (2011)
Home architects Kim and Alex receive Sally, Alex’s nine-year-old child, who was brought to reside with the couple by her mother in Rhode Island. They take Sally to the estate of the artist Emerson Blackwood, who long ago vanished with his kid. Alex spent all of his fortunes restoring the house in the hopes of advancing his career.
In the manor, Sally dismisses Kim and experiences loneliness. She discovers the manor’s secret cellar while exploring the property. Sally is warned not to enter the underground by William Harris, a Blackwood descendant, but she is sure murmurings in the ashpit are summoning her. She learns the voices’ occupants shortly, but Kim and Alex think it’s all in her head.

20. 1408 (2007)
Mike Enslin, a semi-successful writer of terrifying ghost stories, is fed up with his dismal existence and earns a profession by visiting locations where paranormal activity has allegedly occurred to disprove supernatural occurrences. Deeply skeptical, Enslin obtains a postcard advising him not to stay in the enigmatic suite of Manhattan’s Dolphin Resort called 1408, which of course, just serves to pique his curious curiosity.
Inquisitive, Mike decides to disregard the hotel manager’s repeated cautions about the wicked room’s serious risks, and after collecting his spirit-detecting equipment, he bravely enters a hidden world of strange happenings and surreal occasions. The question is whether Room 1408 will make a good conclusion to skeptic Mike’s latest book.

21. The Quiet Ones (2014)
A strange university lecturer takes his top pupils off the radar to conduct risky poltergeist research. The gang puts a young lady through a series of experiments to bring her to the brink of insanity, working under the assumption that paranormal phenomena are sparked by toxic human power.
The scientists eventually conclude that they have liberated a power that is more dreadful than they would have ever anticipated after a series of terrifying events with dreadful repercussions.

22. Poltergeist (1982)
The Freeling family lives in a typical suburban home. Steve promotes real estate in his rapidly expanding neighborhood, while Diane remains at home to care for their three children, Robbie, Dana, and infant Carol Anne. However, strange things began to occur in the house, like furniture moving on its own, cabinet doors opening by themselves, and chairs sliding across the kitchen counter.
It starts out being a little humorous, but it suddenly becomes extremely serious when Carol Anne vanishes into a nether world where, curiously, she can only be found by the static on their screen. A team of paranormal investigators enters the house, but the dark and powerful forces behind the kidnapping want the aid of an unnamed Tangina.

23. The Skeleton Key (2005)
To care for old Ben Devereux, who suffered a stroke and is mute, caregiver Caroline Ellis resigns from her position. When she arrives at his residence in Terrebonne County, Louisiana, she encounters Ben’s spouse Violet, who presents a weird and suspicious demeanor. Luke Marshall, the household’s attorney, persuades Caroline to remain.
Violet claims she has never witnessed this hidden room until she climbs to the attic and discovers it to be filled with spells, hairs, and skeletons used to conduct hoodoo. Caroline believes Violet has cast a curse on Ben and wishes to assist him. She is aware that hoodoo cannot harm a non-believer. Will Caroline ultimately need to be rescued, or will Caroline be able to save Ben?

24. Devil (2010)
Five years after their deaths in a car accident, Detective Bowden has been mourning for his spouse and kid in Philadelphia. Bowden is dispatched to look into a skyscraper jumper that lands on a lorry. In the meantime, five individuals are stranded at a lift in the structure where the suicidal jumper leaped. Despite the elevator’s malfunctioning connection device, Ramirez and Lustig, the monitors, keep an eye on the participants through CCTV as things develop.
The captive people are tense, so Lustig contacts the authorities, and Detective Bowden takes over the investigation. He attempts to figure out who these individuals are without becoming able to get in touch with them, yet he can barely identify four of them. For those inside the elevator, time is of the essence.

I have to warn the audience this is a horrific horror movie. 26. The Unborn (2009)
Adolescent Casey Beldon, who is plagued by dreams and increasingly disturbing glimpses of a little child, digs more into the cause of her issues.
