3×3 Eyes: Kiseki no Yami no Keiyakusha Sequel Manga started serializing on December 22, 2016, on the e Young Magazine online manga magazine. It was later transferred to Monthly Young Magazine on February 20, 2019, and began the last arc in September 2021.
The original manga is named 3×3 Eyes and is written by Yuzo Takada. The serialization started on December 26, 2014, on the Young Magazine Kaizokuban manga website, which was later renamed the e Young Magazine in 2015.
The total story ranged over 40 volumes which were released from October 17, 1988, to November 6, 2002. There was also an official English translation published by Dark Horse Comics, but it was discontinued after volume 8.
Kodansha also released four special edition volumes along with an additional box set for the fans. The manga was so popular that it was once again re-released in 24 volumes from August 12, 2009, to July 9, 2010.
3×3 Eyes Plot
The plot follows the story of the protagonist, who is named Pai and is known to be the last remaining Sanjiyan Unkara (three-eyed mandala), along with her immortal companion, who is named Yakumo. Their goal is to make Pai human so that she can overcome the trauma that was left behind due to her problematic past.
The plot is interesting and keeps the fans at the tip of their toes. The growth of the relationship between Pai and Yakumo is also an engaging plot point. There are also several other characters that we meet along the way who are all unique in their own way.
Overall, it is an enthralling ride undertaken by the two main characters to reach the goal. The manga also won the Kodansha Manga Award for the shōnen category in 1993.
3×3 Eyes Sequels
The first sequel of the 3×3 Eyes was titled 3×3 Eyes: Genjū no Mori no Sōnansha, and it was published on the Young Magazine Kaizokuban manga website on December 26, 2014. It finished in 2016 and only had four volumes.
Another sequel of the manga was soon released on December 22, 2016, on the e Young Magazine online manga magazine and was titled 3×3 Eyes: Kiseki no Yami no Keiyakusha. The series is said to be ending soon, and the news has been announced too.

3×3 Eyes OVAs
The series was adapted into two OVAs by Toei Animation and Studio Junio. The first OVA released around four episodes between July 25, 1991, and the month of May 19, 1992. At the same time, the second one included three episodes from July 25, 1995, to June 25, 1996. These OVAs were released overseas in the United States and the United Kingdom. There are mixed reviews about these adaptations, but it is worth a watch for the fans of the series.
3×3 Eyes Companion Books
There are several companion books that have been released on the 3×3 Eyes manga. The first one was named 3×3 Eyes: Yōma Daizukan, released on April 24, 1998. The book focused on character and monster encyclopedia, crossword, stickers, commentary, and a short story titled Hyōhaku suru Yōma.
The second book was named 3×3 Eyes Another World, and it was released on April 1, 2001. It contained imaginary interviews with the main characters, Pai and Yakumo. Following this, the third book was released to the public on March 23, 2000, which contained an anthology of stories written by various authors like Endo Akinori, Katsumi Ishizuka, and Kusano Shinichi. Another book titled 3×3 Eyes: Perfect Jiten was released in 2001.
3×3 Eyes: Kiseki no Yami no Keiyakusha Sequel Manga Ending Date
This year’s May issue of Kodansha’s Monthly Youth Magazine has announced that the manga sequel 3×3 Eyes: Kiseki no Yami no Keiyakusha will be ending in the next issue. The manga was launched in December 2016, and it has continued for the coming years. The last stage of the manga started back in September 2021, and now it has come to an end.
It deals with the story of Pai and Yakumo 12 years after the last battle with Kaiyanwang. Fans of the long-term series are sad to say goodbye, but they are also hoping that Yuzo Takada will take on the pen again to create another sequel or a new story altogether.
The next issue will be the last one. While many long-term readers are sad about the news, many are also excited to see how it ends. With mixed feelings, the manga 3×3 Eyes: Kiseki no Yami no Keiyakusha is bidding farewell to international fans.
