What is the Movie ‘365 Days’ About?
It’s an erotic-thriller movie by polish creators and with polish actors. After the success of E.L James’ 50 Shades of Grey, this controversial genre came back into the limelight. A lot of movies and series have been made that replicate the vibe of the 50 Shades series. 365 Days happens to be one of them.
However, it’s slightly different in terms of storyline. In 50 Shades, Christian and Anna meet by chance and gradually get together. Whereas in 365 Days, Mossimo kidnaps Laura to make her fall in love with him, and she does. The story is bizarre and sends the wrong message. You should watch this movie as a fictional piece of work and nothing more.
Apart from the crazy story arc, the movie is overtly erotic and sexually explicit. Massimo is a dominant who ties up Laura for his sexual pleasure. Although it happens with consent, there is still much controversy around it.
The Controversies Surrounding the Movie
The premise is as problematic as it seems, a guy kidnaps a girl just to satisfy his machismo. It gets more concerning when Laura falls in love with him. Much of the controversy around the show is that Laura doesn’t love Massimo. That it’s just a side-effect of Stockholm Syndrome – where the captive falls for its abuser.
The movie might look dope but it sends the wrong message. It in a way glamorizes assault and kidnapping which are second offenses. Apart from that, it portrays women in a wrong light, conveying that they eventually give in under control. Its toxic machoism is also a major reason behind the backlash. However, it could be respected simply as a work of fiction.
