Archie Battersbee, 12 Year Old Boy Passed Away: Deadly TikTok Trend

Losing a child is the worse parents could imagine. Archie Battersby, a 12-year-old British kid who had been in a coma for four months, passed away on Saturday after being unplugged in a London hospital, intensifying his parents’ protracted, grueling, and unwinnable legal struggle with the healthcare system. Since April, two hours after all of his appeals before British and European courts had been rejected, his parents have kept him alive to avoid ending his medical care and moving him to a facility.

The Ligature Over Head Challenge: Archie Battersbee

On April 7, Battersbee’s mother allegedly discovered her son unconscious with a ligature around his head. On April 7, 2022, Battersbee was seriously hurt at his Southend, Essex, home. The young person lost consciousness after partaking in the movement and has been in a coma ever since. His life support should be switched off in accordance with a High Court ruling, and the hospital will give his parents the chance to appeal. The mother of the 12-year-old also disclosed that Japan and Italy had made promises to care for Archie Battersbee till the very end.

Archie Was Brain Dead

The doctors said that Archie Battersbee’s brain stem is dead. He was on an artificial life support system, thus, he had lost all mental functions. Battersbee’s parents assert that serious damage to his brainstem has since occurred. He can control his blood pressure and body temperature, and his heartbeat is consistent. Since then, his parents have been attempting to purchase him more time. Since Battersbee’s brain stem was dead, the High Court initially ruled that his life support should be switched off. Legally, a person is considered dead if their brain has expired.

The parents of Archie Battersbee have asked that he be transferred from the Royal London Hospital to a hospital. The medical staff decided to take away the 12-year-life old’s support, which he had used to fight for his life while enduring a four-month coma. Doctors contend that relocating him would pose a “serious risk” as his parents submit a motion to the High Court. The timeframe for completing this was August 1, 2022. Even though Archie Battersbee’s medical procedures are over, he is still being treated at the Royal London Hospital.

Archie Took His Last Breathe

According to a broadcast announcement made by his mother Holy Dance, Archie died away on August 6, 2022, at 12:15 a.m. (11:15 GMT). The boy died after treatment was stopped “in compliance with the court’s instructions,” said Alistair Chaser, chief medical officer of the London Royal Hospital. The boy was stable for “two hours,” according to Ella Carter, a relative of the child until the ventilator was completely removed.  On Saturday morning, some bystanders decorated an idol in front of the hospital with flowers and candles.

Blackout Challenge: Another Case

The “Blackout Challenge,” one of these challenges that have gained prominence on TikTok, requires users to record themselves holding their breath until they pass out. Sadly, even though the Tiktok movie has since been removed, the film’s makers, who had hoped for thousands or perhaps millions of likes, became well-known. They have been utilized by young people to interact with millions of social media users and get views and “likes.”

Along with Archie, an Italian 10-year-old girl also perished in Palermo in January 2021 after attempting the “Blackout Challenge.” In response to the girl’s circumstance, the Italian data protection authorities denounced “poor guardianship of minors.” At the time, the agency showed how “you may simply fake the registration veto offered by the site for people under the age of 13.”

The girl’s father asserted that although being aware of his daughter’s sporadic use of TikTok, he could not have predicted it. “The only thing I knew about was Antonella’s use of TikTok to watch the video. Antonello Secomero revealed the passing of his daughter after successfully completing a test identical to Archie’s. However, this was all about the boy Archie Battersbee.
