COD Players Complain About Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Beta Cheaters

Last Updated on September 28, 2022 by OtakuKart Staff

Following rumors that cheaters have infected the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta, Infinity Ward committed to take action against hackers in the game. On September 16, the PlayStation version of the MW2 beta went live for the first weekend. On September 24, it was made available across all platforms.

On September 24, 2022, Eurogamer claimed that Modern Warfare II had a cheater problem even before the game was officially released. Many console players had to disable crossplay to get around the problem. Players have been particularly aggravated by this issue because Activision and Infinity Ward have been boasting about the RICOCHET improvement they made over the past few months. The RICOCHET team spent more than a year developing the update, which sported a new kernel-level PC driver that they promised would deter hackers.

COD Players Complain About Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Beta Cheaters

Infinity Ward, the company behind Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, has responded to claims that hackers have been interfering with online games. There have been numerous concerns about the sequel’s beta, including the elimination of red dots. On September 16, the PlayStation version of the MW2 beta went live for the first weekend. On September 24, it was made available across all platforms. Pre-ordering the game or earning a promotional code gave players access to the beta.

Many gamers would recognize this event because it occurred during the beta for Call of Duty: Vanguard and Black Ops Cold War in 2020 last year. Aimbot, which utilizes an algorithm to ensure that no bullet ever misses, and wallhack, which enables players see opponents through solid surfaces, are the two most commonly used cheats. TikTok has grown to be a popular platform for cheaters to promote their software with gameplay videos.

Hacking is an issue that frequently arises in online multiplayer games, and the Call of Duty series in particular has long had to cope with it. Some cheats are more overt than others; for instance, during a Warzone webcast last year, cheating was openly admitted to. These games frequently contain a flaw called “wall hacks,” which allows players to view and occasionally kill their opponents through solid objects. Aimbots are another tool that many gamers use to automatically target their opponents without having to manually aim.

What Has Been Done Yet To Deal With The Issue?

The test for MWII has now finished, giving Activision some time to fix the issue before the game’s official release in November. On September 23, 2022, Infinity Ward posted an update saying it would start “taking live action against cheaters and hackers in beta matches.” If RICOCHET will receive any significant software changes in the future or how it’s poor performance will affect its presence in MWII, and the impending Warzone 2.0 are both uncertain.

With over 150,000 gamers participating in the Modern Warfare 2 beta test, widespread cheating like this can only be detrimental to a beta that is already receiving bad feedback from the audience. Since some people are utilizing the beta as a chance to test their hacks ahead of time, if the hackers are not stopped immediately, this could result in even more cheating in lobbies once the game finally launches. Since Infinity Ward acknowledged the hacking and addressed the issue right away, real gamers may have some reason to believe that the hacking problem would soon be resolved.

How Have The Gamers Responded?

The Call of Duty franchise’s yearly release cycle has been blamed by some fans for these recurring issues, who contend that the games’ hurried creation and working culture make them vulnerable to the easy incursion. Some people are choosing not to buy the PC version because they are unsure whether the developer will fix these problems before launch. Activision and Infinity Ward must live up to nostalgia since many consider the original Modern Warfare II to be the best game in the series.

The open beta for Modern Warfare II only ran for roughly three days, which is a very brief window of opportunity for hackers to gain access to the game. Fans have frequently encouraged PlayStation and Xbox users to stay away from crossplay in order to protect themselves from these cheaters.
