I think that after genres like action, romance, comedy, etc., the next best thing that people love to see in a movie is prison escape. It could be because, in these types of movies, it is shown that the prisoners must do a lot of planning, coordination, and a well-timed execution to be able to successfully escape from prison.

For a movie to be counted in this category, it should have a proper full-fledged escape scene that has some importance related to the story of the movie.

They should very practically and properly show the process of planning and strategizing to execute the great escape; if multiple people are included, then their thorough teamwork, the actual escape day, being on the run or pursued or recaptured, and a general environment of fear, uncertainty, and injustice should be maintained.

And if you are one of those people that loves prison escape and wondering where I could find a list of these types of movies, then you are at the right place.
