As the recently held Premios Juventud Show 2023 has been held, and many artists and celebrities have received appreciation for their work through the award show. Let’s go through the history of Premios Juventud and the winners announced for the year 2023. Premios Juventud, which translates as Youth Awards in the Spanish language, is an award show which is for Spanish-speaking artists and celebrities in the category of film, music, fashion, sports, and pop culture.
The award show is produced and distributed by the Univision network. And the winners are decided using an online voting system. The first Perimos Juventud was held on 23rd September 2004 and was hosted by Cristián de la Fuente, Galilea Montijo, and Myrka Dellanos. The venue of the award show was Watsco Center which is on the campus of the University of Miami situated in Coral Gables, Florida.
The venue was Watsco Center till the 16th edition of the show and later was changed to Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood. The most number of Premios Juventud awards received by any artist is Karol G, who has won 28 Premios Juventud awards, followed by Shakira, who has won 24 awards. Also, the most number of awards by an artist in a single year was recorded by Luis Fonsi in the year 2009, who was awarded with 10 Premios Juventud Awards, followed by RBD with 9 awards in the year 2006.

Premios Juventud 2023: A Night of Latin Music Celebration
The 20th edition of Premios Juventud, held on July 20, 2023, was a night to remember, filled with spectacular performances and well-deserved recognition for some of the biggest names in Latin music. The event took place at the Choliseo in Puerto Rico and aired live on Univision, captivating audiences worldwide. Shakira emerged as the shining star of the night, walking away with an impressive total of eight awards.
The Colombian superstar’s wins included the prestigious Agent of Change Award, which she shared with Camila Cabello, who spoke passionately about climate change and environmental justice during her acceptance speech. The ceremony kicked off with an electrifying reggaetón medley presented by Puerto Rican icon Daddy Yankee, who praised reggaetón for soundtracking a generation. The medley featured thrilling performances by Zion & Lennox, Wisin, Chencho Corleone, Angel & Khriz, and others.
Mexican pop duo Ha*Ash snagged the Best Pop Album award for their album “Haashtag,” setting the tone for a night filled with outstanding music from diverse genres. Shakira’s collaboration with Bizarrap earned her the Best Pop/Urban Song honor, solidifying her position as one of the night’s major winners. The event also celebrated the latest trends in Latin music by introducing 15 new categories. Karol G and Peso Pluma followed Shakira closely, both claiming a total of five awards each.
Other standout moments included a salsa version of Hoobastank’s “The Reason” performed by Jonathan Moly and the rock band and a heartwarming reunion of Mexican pop trio Camila after 10 years, who delighted fans with a medley of their hits.
