Marshall D Teach is one of the toughest bad guys in One Piece. He is the only known person to wield not one but two incredibly strong devil fruits – Yami Yami no Mi and the Gura Gura no Mi.
He wields the power of Darkness, with which he can “reduce anything to nothing” with one, and the power of earthquakes to bring forth destruction with the other. How he was able to consume two devil fruits is still unknown, and we do not know if he can consume even more.
With the power of Yami Yami no Mi, Blackbeard can nullify other people’s devil fruit power and pull things in like a black hole. And the Gura Gura no Mi is known as the strongest paramecia devil fruit, which has the power to destroy the whole world. The pirate also has superhuman durability, endurance, and physical strength.
These abilities make Blackbeard one of the toughest guys in the entire series. Many estimates that he will likely be the final villain of the series. He defeated powerhouses like Portgas D Ace, Marco, and Boa Hancock and even gave the Red Hair Shanks his infamous scar. Shanks accepted that the scar was not due to his carelessness but because of how powerful Blackbeard truly is.
So, is Blackbeard completely unstoppable? Is there no one who can beat him? Is he now the most powerful character?
Well, no. There are still plenty of One Piece characters that are stronger than Blackbeard. We went through every One Piece character there is and was and listed down the 20 of the strongest of all time. These characters can not only give the leader of the Blackbeard pirates a tough time but also manage to beat him. Here are the 20 One Piece characters stronger than Teach.
Sakazuki
Even though he is hated by many, the current fleet admiral is one of the strongest characters in One Piece. He will try to kill anyone who can refuse to follow his view of absolute justice. That makes Blackbeard his must-be-eliminated target.
His devil fruit, the Magu Magu no mi, has the ability to wield magma. With the help of his devil fruit, he can produce and become magma itself, which grants him the highest offensive power among all the devil fruits.
Akainu is so strong that he is able to permanently change the appearance of an Island in his fight against Aokiji. In addition to the power of magma, he has both armament and observational Haki and might also have supreme Haki. Akainu also went toe to toe with Whitebeard in the Marineford arc, which adds credibility to his strength.
Blackbeard ran away from Akainu after the war at Marineford cause he knew that Akainu could easily beat him in a battle.
Kizaru
Kizaru is one of the strongest admirals in One Piece and can even be considered the strongest. He is a marine admiral, giving him a reason to go one-on-one with Blackbeard. Thanks to his logia-type devil fruit Pika-Pika no Mi, he can create and manipulate light at his will. That makes him possibly the fastest character in the series.
He made his appearance during the Sabaody Archipelago arc, where he was easily able to defeat all the worst generation’s super-rookies. After that, he also went toe to toe with Silvers Rayleigh. He even ignored the warning of Benn Beckman, first mate of the red-haired pirates, and attacked Law’s ship during the Marineford arc. These all show how confident and formidable an opponent he is.
Kizaru’s speed and admiral status make him one of the most dangerous people to be reckoned with in the anime, even for Blackbeard himself.
Aokiji
Though currently confirmed to be in some sort of relationship with the Blackbeard Pirates, Aokiji is still someone who will give Teach a tough time and can even defeat him.
The follower of “Lazy Justice” is the owner of the logia-type devil fruit Hie-Hie no mi. With the power of this devil fruit, he can control ice and freeze anything to absolute zero degrees. His devil fruit rivals Akainu’s Magu-Magu no mi, and he is considered equal to the current fleet admiral. He has also mastered armament and observational Haki, like Sakazuki.
He went toe to toe with Akainu for 10 days straight, and their battle changed the weather conditions on the island. That battle made both of them even stronger than before.
Aokiji is so strong that his presence alone scared off someone like Doflamingo. Kuzan also went face-to-face with Whitebeard and defeated “Diamond” Jozu in the Marineford war.
Shanks
Shanks, one of the four emperors of the sea, is one of the strongest characters in one piece. Teach is responsible for the scar on Shanks’s face, and Shanks has been warning people about Blackbeard throughout the show. He has his reasons to defeat Blackbeard. But can he?
Even though we haven’t seen much of Shanks’s abilities and fighting style, we know where he fits on the power scale according to what little we have seen in the anime. Red Hair casually clashed with Whitebeard on equal terms. He had legendary duels with Mihawk. He stopped Kaido from going to Marineford, and we all know you can’t negotiate with Kaido, so Shanks probably used force against him.
Shanks does not possess any devil fruit, but his Haki is extraordinary. He has one of, if not the strongest, Conqueror’s Haki and can even make observational Haki useless against him. His strength is feared even by the admirals. These all show that the captain of the Red Hair pirates can definitely cut down Blackbeard.
Silvers Rayleigh
Rayleigh, the right-hand man of the king of pirates, is feared by many. Even though he is way past his prime, the old man’s strength is still commendable and feared by all. He is the master of Haki, armament, observational, and Conqueror’s, all three types.
Even in his old age, he was able to go toe to toe with Admiral Kizaru during the Sabaody Archipelago arc. Remember, during his fight with Kizaru, and he held his sword after a long time.
Prime Rayleigh was a beast and on the same level as Whitebeard, Rogers, and Garp. In his prime, he was able to stop Marco the phoenix with just one finger.
Rayleigh is a master swordsman and teaches both Shanks and Luffy. He can be considered an equal to the emperors of the sea and Admirals. The Dark King would definitely be able to take on Blackbeard and even defeat him.
Sengoku
As a former fleet Admiral, Sengoku’s strength can not be underestimated. Don’t even think about it. He held down a Garp filled with anger with only one hand. That shows how incredibly strong Sengoku is. Sengoku is considered one of the most skilled hand-to-hand combatants in the anime.
His devil fruit, one of the only two shown mystical types, makes him into a large Golden Buddha. The devil fruit grants him an immense boost in strength, durability, and reach. It also gives him the power to create shock waves as strong as Whitebeard’s devil fruit.
During Marineford, Blackbeard and his crew were sent flying by Sengoku’s Golden Buddha powers. We haven’t seen much of Sengoku’s feats other than this. We don’t know how strong his Haki is, but it would definitely be impressive, considering he was a navy fleet admiral. But even without considering his other feats, Sengoku can send Blackbeard and his crew flying again.
Kaido
Kaido did not get the title of “World’s strongest creature” for nothing. He can be considered one of the most dangerous characters in the One Piece world. Having the highest current bounty, Kaido would be able to beat Blackbeard in a one-on-one fight as “People often say “If it’s one-on-one, Kaidou will win.”
The King of beasts’ execution has been conducted 40 times, and he survived every single attempt, giving him the reputation of a man unable to die. He destroys people with one blow, takes on multiple strong opponents at once, and blows up mountains while being drunk.
Kaido’s Armament and Conqueror’s Haki are one of the toughest in the series, and his devil fruit power which converts him into a full-blown Azure Dragon makes him more terrifying. The captain of the beast pirates rarely takes any damage, and his endurance is just the best. No one can easily take down the Kaido of the beasts.
Shiki
The “Golden Lion” Shiki was one of the most powerful pirates in the world, being on par with Whitebeard, Garp, Sengoku, and even the Pirate King Gol D Rogers, meaning he will manage to beat Blackbeard in a one-on-one fight.
Shiki has tremendous physical strength, sword skills, and a powerful devil fruit Fuwa Fuwa no Mi. His devil fruit allows him to float himself and any object he touches. Shiki’s abilities allowed him to slay an army of marines alone at Marineford.
It took the combined effort of two monstrous marines, Admiral Sengoku and Vice Admiral Garp, to stop the golden lion, and their fight destroyed half of Marineford. After that, Shiki was locked in Impel Down, and he became the first person ever to escape the infamous prison.
The lion was the captain of the largest grand fleet during Roger’s time which even gave the gold pirates a hard time.
Monkey D Garp
Known as the “Hero of the Marines”, Garp is definitely the strongest vice admiral in one piece. He can even be considered the strongest marine ever. Sengoku has to hold down Garp during Marineford, or he would have killed Akainu, showing his strength is no less than any emperor or admiral.
Numerous times, He traded blows equally with the Pirate King himself. Garp has fought some of the strongest pirates in the series all his life. This is proof of his incredible strength. He can throw cannonballs with his bare hands at tremendous speed, swing a giant steel ball with no effort, and one-punch Marco.
Garp is well known for his punches, and that is why many call him “Garp The Fist.” Not much is known about the exact nature of his abilities, but his raw brute strength and durability are enough to prove how terrifying he is. He has beaten a lot of fierce pirates in the past, and he can also beat Teach in a one-on-one clash.
Charlotte “Big Mom” Linlin
The member of the most notorious pirates, the female emperor, Big Mom, is a complete monster and can defeat Blackbeard in a battle. Her paramecia-type devil fruit, Soru Soru no Mi, allows her to steal people’s soles out of them and infuse those souls into objects.
Even without considering her terrifying devil fruit powers, Charlotte is still one of the strongest foes in the series. She was born with destructive strength. According to Bege, she can single-handedly sink ships, swing giants around, and break havoc on towns with no effort whatsoever. She possesses inhuman durability and has super tough skin, as Sanji compared her to an Iron ball.
Linlin is evenly matched with Kaido and is considered stronger than him by many. With the help of her devil fruit, she can infuse souls inside her body, making her even stronger and more durable. Blackbeard would have a tough time fighting the strongest woman in the series and can actually be beaten by her.
Edward “Whitebeard” Newgate
The Strongest Man in the world can easily beat Blackbeard in a fight. Whitebeard’s devil fruit, Gura-Gura no Mi, was so powerful that it gave him the potential to destroy the entire world. That is why Blackbeard wanted the fruit more than anything and took it as soon as Whitebeard passed away.
Edward was equally matched with Gold D Roger and could even be considered the stronger of the two. Not many were able to stand up to him in his prime.
Old whitebeard is no less a threat. We have seen what he was able to do in his old, diseased body during Marineford. He opened up the fight by cracking the air, shifting the entire sea, and causing two waves even larger than the island. Even with all those injuries, he was able to beat Akainu to a pulp.
It took having his face burnt off, slashed and stabbed 267 times, and hit by 46 cannon balls and 152 bullets to kill a 72-year-old Whitebeard. This shows that even Old whitebeard can beat Blackbeard in a one-on-one battle.
Gold D Rogers
Can Blackbeard actually beat someone who was considered the King of Pirates? Nope! Not a chance. Gol D Roger, the owner of One Piece, can be considered the strongest character in the series. This man has seen everything there was to see, and this can’t be done if you are not among the most powerful people in the entire world.
Rogers is over all the current admirals, emperors, and anyone else. The only people who can stand up to him as equals are Garp, Whitebeard, Xebeks, Shiki, and maybe Sengoku.
Not much is shown about Rogers, but we know he was a master of all forms of Haki and possessed incredible sword skills. Blackbeard is way behind Gol D Rogers, and the pirate king would have no problem beating him in a fight.
Dracule Mihawk
Considered the strongest swordsman currently, Dracule Mihawk is a force not to be reckoned with. He has a good chance of defeating Blackbeard.
The number of contenders for the spot of the strongest swordsman is many, and Mihawk sits on top of all of them. Mihawk trained a lot to get where he is now and challenged everyone who came his way.
He is as powerful as Shanks and wishes for someone even more powerful than the Red Hair to appear. That means he is looking forward to finding an opponent even stronger than the leader of the Red Hair Pirates.
His one swing gave Jozu the diamond a tough time, his normal slashes can cut huge chunks of ice, and his sword range is the entire Marineford. And also lives with Baboons, who are master swordsmen. He owns both armament and observational Haki making him one of the strongest people in the series.
Kozuki Oden
The Daimyo of Kuri in Wano country has proved himself as one of the toughest names in one piece. He could have been as strong as anyone else if he had still been alive. He was the strongest samurai of his time and could take on an army all by himself.
Kozuki Oden went toe to toe with Prime Whitebeard when he was 29. He gave the Yonkou a tough time in his prime, and Whitebeard had to use his terrifying devil fruit to beat him.
Oden also charged at the Pirate King and survived a blow from him. Rogers told Rayleigh to back off as he sensed how strong Oden was.
Prime Kozuki gave Kaido his permanent scar and made him briefly pass out. Kaido even had to use dirty tactics to defeat him. Prime Oden could have defeated prime Kaido with no difficulty, which means he could also defeat Blackbeard.
Trafalgar Law
Trafalgar D Law has one of the coolest and extremely overpowered devil fruit powers, Ope Ope no Mi, and this power makes him one of the toughest guys in the series. He can take on Blackbeard one-on-one, as he had his feats to prove this.
Trafalgar easily defeated Smoker, one shot fully covered with armament Haki Virgo, and even cut through the entire factory mountain. He is even stronger at the end of the Wano arc. He did a lot of damage to Kaido during their fight on the rooftop, along with Kidd and Luffy.
Law, with Eustass Kidd, managed to do the unthinkable and defeat Big Mom. Yes, Charlotte Linlin got beaten by the duo at the end of the Wano arc. That means Law is now as strong as Big Mom. Unlike Luffy, Law is a smart and calculative man, which gives him a chance to defeat Blackbeard.
Eustass Kid
With Superhuman durability and one of the toughest devil fruits in the series, Captain Kid is one of the strongest worst, generation pirates. He can manipulate magnetic forces with the power of his devil fruit Jiki Jiki no Mi. He also possesses the Conqueror’s Haki. All this, with his infinite determination and bold personality, make him one of the toughest pirates in the series.
Eustass has an incredible recovery rate, as stated by a guard during the Wano arc. In the Wano arc, he could take on Kaido. Kid, along with Law, was able to defeat Big Mom, even after she had empowered herself more than ever with her Devil Fruit abilities.
Also, he was unknowingly under an attack from Basil Hawkins’ Devil Fruit abilities during his battle against Big Mom. This makes his victory over the emperor more impressive. He is incredibly strong currently and will only get stronger with time, and he will be able to beat Blackbeard.
Monkey D Luffy
The protagonist of our Story, the one who is destined to be the next Pirate King, leader of the straw hats, Monkey D Luffy, can and will defeat Blackbeard. As the series forwards, Luffy has conquered everything that comes his way and makes himself stronger than all his foes. And now, he is considered a Yonkou. Yonkou Luffy is among the strongest forces in the series.
At the end of the Wano arc, Luffy brought down an emperor titled “Strongest Creature in the World.” Luffy awakened his devil fruit in his fight against Kaido and tapped into Gear 5th, which gave him peak strength and the ability to affect his other people and his surroundings with his rubber properties.
Luffy’s observational Haki allows him to see the future, and he can do internal damage without making physical contact with his armament Haki. Combined with powerful armament and Conqueror’s Haki, he was able to beat down Kaido by the end of the Wano arc, making him above emperor level.
Im
Im is the ruler of the entire One Piece world and is the one who sits on the empty throne. The highest authorities of the world government, the five elders, bow down to it and address it as their ruler, making it one of the, if not the most important, figures in the anime.
Not much is known about Im, and its identity is kept secret from the world. But it must be one of the strongest as it has the greatest known authority in the entire world. It is responsible for the complete annihilation of the Lulusia Kingdom within seconds.
Im owns an ability or weapon which manifests in the sky and rains down energy beams that engulf the target and leave absolutely nothing. Surely, Blackbeard stands no chance against someone who coldly destroys islands and erases them from History.
Monkey D Dragon
The son of “Hero of the marines” Garp, and the father of the “future king of pirates” Luffy, Monkey D Dragon, can be considered the strongest character currently in One Piece world.
The Rebellious Dragon is the supreme commander of the revolutionary army, a powerful, globally active paramilitary force, and is the number one threat to the world government. Being the leader of such a strong force, he must be a being of terrifying power.
The world government gave Dragon the title of the World’s worst criminal. Even though his combat abilities are unknown, the title itself should tell us why he can be considered among the strongest.
Dragon also is rumored to possess a devil fruit as he is seen creating blasts of wind. If Garp is the past and Luffy is the future, then Dragon must be the present. The world government’s number one threat should also be able to defeat Blackbeard.
Rocks D. Xebec
For the first time in history, the world government teamed up with an infamous group to take on one common foe. Now, who is this common foe that to defeat him, the government had to join forces with pirates? The man is named Rocks D Xebec.
Mentioned only once by Sengoku, Rocks D Xebec was the captain of the rocks pirates, and the crew members were infamous pirates like Whitebeard, Kaido, and Big Mom. Yes, Rocks handled not one but three future emperors under him.
Rocks wanted to be the king of the world, making him a threat to the world government. Gold Rogers considered him his toughest rival. The threat was so big that Monkey D Garp had to team up with Gol D Rogers. It took the combined strength of the Hero of the marines and the Pirate King to take down Xebec. Someone who took on Prime Garp and Prime Rogers can also take on Blackbeard and beat him.
