On April 1, 2023, Episode 1 of Tengoku Daimakyou was published, and we will now discuss Episode 2 of Tengoku Daimakyou. Masaka Ishiguro’s manga Tengoku Daimakyou, commonly known as Heavenly Delusional, was written and illustrated by him. Kodansha published a serialized version of the manga in its Seinen magazine Monthly Afternoon in January 2018. The manga is divided into nine volumes and has more than 50 chapters.
It is published in English by Denpa, which licenses it for North American distribution. Production I.G. studio announced the anime adaptation in October 2022. Hirotaka Mori will direct the Tengoku Daimakyou anime series. Among his previous credits are Dragon Ball Z Movie: Battle Of Gods and Dragon Ball Z Movie: Battle Of Gods.
Anime scripts are being written by Makato Fukutami, character designs are being handled by Utsushita of Minakata Laboratory, and the music is being composed by Kensuke Ushio. As a bonus, the anime features a famous Bish opening song, “Innocent Arrogonance,” as well as an ending song by ASOBI titled “I Don’t Know Anyone Anywhere Anywhere Anything.” Let’s see when episode 2 of Tengoku Daimakyou is set to release, the timings, the review of episode 1, and where to watch it.
Tengoku Daimakyou Episode 1 Review
The anime avoids cumbersome exposition dumps in favor of providing information organically through visual cues or suggestions from character conversations. Whilst hardly much has been shown thus far, it is sufficient to keep your attention focused on the action. Tengoku Daimakyo focuses on the human element rather than answers that propel the plot ahead.
Similarly to The Leftovers or Station Eleven, the how and why of the dystopia are secondary to how people cope with harsh circumstances – emotionally, physically, and psychologically. We follow Maru and Kiruko’s journey throughout the anime, which is mostly slice-of-life. We learn more about the couple and the world around them as they journey. We learn about how humans deal with adversity and about “The Collapse” of strangers.
So far, the series has one clear flaw: the events inside the school are significantly less fascinating than those beyond the gates. Tokio and Mimihime’s story will hopefully become more intriguing in the future, but for now, Maru and Kiruko’s escapades will keep you entertained. This wonderfully animated anime, with its slow-burning mystery and superb character development, also offers lots of Ghibli-esque visual flair thanks to Production I.G’s amazing translations.
While a puzzle boxes program like Tengoku Daimakyo, which requires a lot of attention and effort, might be ruined if the final reveal disappoints (see Lost), there’s always the possibility that it will fail in the future. We’re willing to believe in this heavenly hallucination based on how engaging and smart the anime’s setup has been in the first two episodes, and we’re eager to keep watching.
