David Adkins, better known as “Sinbad” in the music industry, is an American actor and stand-up comedian. He rose to prominence in the 1990s as a result of his appearances on his own HBO special events, as Coach Walter Oakes in the 1987–1991 TV show A Different Place and as David Bryan in the 1993–1994 TV show The Sinbad Exhibition, as well as his roles in the films Necessary Sloppiness, First Kid, Jingle All the Way, and Planes.

Sinbad is the son of Louise and Dr. Donald Beckley Adkins Sr., a Baptist preacher. He has five siblings. His great-grandmother had Irish ancestry. He studied at the University of Denver, which is located in Colorado, from 1974 to 1978, where he annotated for the basketball game twice.

Sinbad underwent a thrombectomy to get rid of the clot and get his brain’s blood flow back to normal. When Sinbad experienced a second blood clot, he underwent additional surgery.

Doctors conducted a craniotomy to slacken the swelling after determining that his brain had begun to swell. “While he is beginning his road to recovery, we are faithful and optimistic that he will bring sniggers into our hearts soon,” the writer’s family said to TMZ at the time. His family urged followers to continue to send him graces, saying the comedian had been “a source of light, enthusiasm, and pleasure for many centuries.”
