Relationships in the Brown family seem to be in turmoil after the divorce. While Kody Brown’s dream of living with his wives under a single roof is impossible for now, there is still an emotional connection between Christine, the other wives, and the kids.
TLC’s Sister Wives is a documentary series where we see the life of couples involved in a polygamous or plural marriage. Kody Brown was married to Christine, Janelle, and Meri before he decided to end the legal marriage with other wives and marry Robyn, his fourth wife.
Although the Brown family enjoyed living together at first, with each new season, they drifted far apart. Christine, Janelle, and now even Meri seem to be looking forward to their divorces (breaking off the spiritual unions).
Despite the messy relationships between Meri, Christine, Janelle, and Robyn, their kids like each other and can be seen spending time together. The 18th season of Sister Wives has so far featured new updates from Christine’s family and Janelle trying to make her life better by moving into her apartment.
Recap
Mykelti announces the news of her pregnancy to Ysabel, who is the only one in the family who is unaware. She also reveals that she’s having twins when visiting Christine and the others. Since the midwife wasn’t going to be there, Mykelti decided to give birth at the hospital.
Christine talks about her experiences in the hospital and giving birth between the machines and IVs. She gave birth to Truly at the hospital and not at home. Mykelti was close to Robyn, too, so she was the one thing that held Robyn’s family and Christine’s family together.
On Meri and Kody’s anniversary, Meri talks about how Kody didn’t remember their marriage and didn’t want to hang out with her even after she told him about the special day.
Kody reveals that he has trust issues with his kids after divorcing their mothers. Ysabel is confused about how the family will now be working following the divorce. Kody’s dream of living with his family under one roof gets further from reality each day.
We get to see shots of the Commitment ceremony, where the Brown family had come up with mission statements and publicly announced them at the gathering. Kody wants to make the relationships with his family better, but it’s more complicated and unattainable than it seems.
Janelle’s kids make a beautiful garden for her as her birthday is soon approaching. While talking about Kody, Janelle feels that he doesn’t think about her at all since he has a whole family to deal with, along with Robyn.
None of Janelle’s kids liked dealing with Kody, especially since they were now adults and didn’t need a father figure anymore. Janelle and Robyn never seemed to connect as friends.
Truly learns how to ride a bike after having a terrible experience the first time around. Christine’s other kids, Ysabel and her brother, help Truly let go of the fear and enjoy the bicycle ride.
Spoilers
Christine prepares the home for a complete 1950s-themed fun party, as her 50th birthday will be happening soon. Kody finally visits Janelle’s apartment. Meri’s in a dilemma over her strained relationship with Kody and the B&B.
