Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.1 “The Long Goodbye” Update Goes Live With New Agents, Story Chapter, Events, and Permanent Gameplay Mode

Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.1, titled “The Long Goodbye,” is now live, bringing one of the game’s largest content updates to date. HoYoverse’s latest patch introduces two new S-Rank Agents, a new Main Story chapter, an explorable district in Booastrum, multiple seasonal events, new outfits, a permanent gameplay mode, and a long list of gameplay improvements. The update also expands PC graphics support, resets first-purchase Monochrome bonuses, and introduces additional quality-of-life features across the game.

Players affected by the maintenance will receive 600 Polychromes in total, split between server maintenance compensation and issue fix compensation, provided they reached Inter-Knot Level 4 before the update. Version 3.1 will remain available for 42 days, ending on September 9, 2026, giving players plenty of time to experience its new story, characters, and rewards before the next major patch.

Version 3.1 introduces Remielle, Sigrid, and a new chapter in the main story

The headline additions are two new S-Rank Agents joining the playable roster. Remielle, an Anomaly character with the Lumiflux attribute, is available through the “Paradise Regained” Signal Search, while Sigrid, an Ice Attack Agent, debuts in the “‘Till the Ends of the Sky” Signal Search. Their signature S-Rank W-Engines, Ode of Resurrected Wings and Knight’s Extolment, also arrive through dedicated Signal Searches, alongside the new S-Rank Bangboo Ariel.

Version 3.1 also advances the narrative with Main Story Season 3 Chapter 2: “The Long Goodbye.” The official synopsis teases the next stage of the conflict by asking, “Fate plucks the strings. Is this the prelude to tomorrow, or the finale of farewell?” The chapter becomes permanently available after completing Season 3 Chapter 1: A Sleepwalker’s Confession, although eligible players can access it earlier through the Advance Screening system.

Players can also strengthen their relationships with the new Agents through Trust Events and Quality Time Events, while exploration expands with the addition of Gear Street in Roscaelifer’s Booastrum district.

Operation Bagel and major seasonal events headline the gameplay additions

One of the biggest long-term additions is “…of the Labyrinth: Operation Bagel,” a brand-new permanent game mode launching on August 5. Available to players at Inter-Knot Level 40, the mode revolves around exploring Hollow depths, collecting resources, upgrading a research station, crafting equipment, and completing commissions. Participation rewards players with Polychromes, accessories, titles, and exclusive items, making it one of Version 3.1’s largest endgame systems.

The update also launches an extensive schedule of limited-time events. Marcel Anniversary Gift rewards players with a free S-Rank Agent, S-Rank W-Engine, Polychromes, and additional resources. Gift From the Clouds grants 10 Encrypted Master Tapes after seven login days, while The Great En-Nah Giveaway! later offers another 10 Encrypted Master Tapes alongside 10 Boopons.

Additional events include Summer Waves Roll In, which rewards Lucy’s Princess on Holiday outfit, Phaethon’s Grand Reveal of the Year, Potential Hypothesis: Hunting Game, Snap! Focus Showdown!, Return to Ridu: Feathers of Reunion, Extensive Patrol: Triple Bounty, Combat Training: Triple Bounty, Crispy Meal Deployment Plan, Dangerous Fugitive’s Leisurely Vacation, and Ding-Dong! Delivery Training in Progress, giving players fresh activities throughout the patch cycle.

New outfits, quality-of-life improvements, and PC enhancements arrive

Version 3.1 introduces several premium cosmetics led by Remielle’s Seashade Pas Seul and Moonlight Whispers outfits, both launching with limited-time discounts. Players can also purchase the Moonlit Shore bundle at a 30% discount during the promotional period. Meanwhile, Sigrid’s Majestic Wavechaser outfit arrives on August 19, while Lucy’s Princess on Holiday can be earned free through the Summer event.

Outside of cosmetics, HoYoverse has added numerous quality-of-life improvements. A new Beginner Guide replaces the existing Proxy Legend interface, providing progression missions that reward Polychromes, Master Tapes, upgrade materials, and Drive Disc sets. Players can now batch lock A-Rank W-Engines, adjust Crowd Density settings, explore new city locations, challenge additional enemies, unlock dynamic wallpapers for Remielle and Sigrid, and experience expanded DualSense light bar support.

PC players also benefit from broader DX12 compatibility for select AMD graphics cards, complementing recently added support for Ray Tracing, DLSS, FSR, and Frame Generation. HoYoverse has also reduced EXP requirements between Level 20 and Level 50, optimized multiple gameplay systems, refined voice-over presentation, improved graphics across several areas, and fixed numerous combat, interface, and performance issues, including DX12 shader compilation behavior.

The update concludes with balance adjustments for Shiyu Defense, Deadly Assault, and Hollow Zero, alongside revised Additional Ability conditions for Hoshimi Miyabi, Aria, and Piper, further refining team-building options for future content.
