The anime adaptation of Hitsuji Gondaira’s Mission: Yozakura Family has officially announced a second season. This news came after the 27th and final episode of the first season aired.

The anime originally premiered in Japan on April 7 and was broadcast on MBS, TBS, and their network affiliates.

In the U.S., Disney offers the anime with an English dub through Hulu, while in Japan it streams on platforms like Prime Video and Netflix.

An announcement video has also been released to tease the upcoming season. The story centers around Taiyou Asano, a high school student who struggles with social interactions following the tragic loss of his family.

His only comfort comes from his childhood friend, Mutsumi Yozakura, who leads the world’s most powerful family of spies.

Mutsumi’s eldest brother, Kyouichirou, becomes overly protective after she was seriously injured in the past, and now his protective nature turns dangerous for Taiyou.

To escape Kyouichirou’s lethal obsession, Taiyou marries Mutsumi, officially joining the Yozakura family, and goes on a journey to become a skilled spy while revealing his own dark past and the secrets of the Yozakuras.

The first season was directed by Mirai Minato, known for working on series like Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya and BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense.

The character designs were done by Mizuki Takahashi, who also worked on Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation.

Music for the series was composed by Kōji Fujimoto and Osamu Sasaki, who have been involved in projects like Ragna Crimson and The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated!.

The original manga for Mission: Yozakura Family was created by Hitsuji Gondaira and first appeared in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in August 2019.

Viz Media has been publishing the manga digitally in English since its debut and began releasing physical volumes in October 2022.

Shueisha’s MANGA Plus service also offers digital releases of the manga for English readers. The series has gained popularity for its blend of spy action and family dynamics, and fans are eagerly awaiting the second season.
