The official Japanese Pokémon YouTube channel released a new music video on Friday, featuring “Lucky” by Nulbarich and Sunny (feat. UMI), inspired by the game series’ iconic Pokémon Center theme. Anime studios MAPPA and Contrail collaborated to bring this vibrant video to life.
This music video is part of the “Pokémon Music Collective” project, which aims to create new music based on the franchise’s beloved themes.
Directed by Kyōhei Ishiguro, known for works like Your Lie in April and Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop, the video showcases his talents as both director and storyboard artist. Huang Chieh, who handled character design and chief animation duties, also created the image boards.
Contrail, the studio co-founded by the renowned Sunao Katabuchi in 2019, teamed up with MAPPA for this project. Katabuchi is known for his work on Black Lagoon and In This Corner of the World.
The music video reflects the collaborative efforts of these creative powerhouses, bringing a fresh and nostalgic experience to Pokémon fans.
