Yen Press has announced 19 new acquisitions that will join its future publishing lineup, giving readers a sizeable selection of manga, light novels, and audiobooks to look forward to. The September 25 announcement spans several genres, including fantasy, romance, science fiction, horror, mythology, supernatural stories, and reincarnation. The publisher revealed the titles through social media as part of its latest licensing slate.
The announcement begins with two additions to Yen Audio, including Mamoru Hosoda’s Mirai and Yomu Mishima’s Valkyrie Bullet. Yen On is also expanding with three new light novels, while the largest portion of the announcement consists of 14 manga acquisitions. The manga lineup includes new standalone works, continuations, collections, and an anthology featuring creators such as Ryoko Kui, Suzuka Morino, Hachi Inaba, and Touge Oni creator Kenji Tsurubunchi.
Yen Audio and Yen On Add Five New Titles
Yen Audio’s new lineup includes Mirai by Mamoru Hosoda, the acclaimed creator behind works including The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars, and Wolf Children. The story follows young Kun, who struggles with the arrival of his baby sister before encountering a mysterious teenage girl claiming to be his sister from the future. Yen Press has previously published Mirai through its Yen On imprint.
The second audiobook acquisition is Valkyrie Bullet by Yomu Mishima, with illustrations by Pinakes. Set in a future where humanity is fighting monsters known as giju, the story centers on Ren Hifumi, a male test pilot transferred to an academy where women train to operate powerful Valkyrie Dresses. His experimental humanoid weapon has never successfully completed a trial, setting the stage for a military science fiction story.
Yen On is also adding three light novels. Kafka’s Journey by Chizuru Mizushina, illustrated by Haruyuki Morisawa, follows a girl living in an isolated village on a floating island. After losing her grandfather and becoming frustrated with her sheltered existence, Kafka uses his old plane to escape and discover the world beyond her home.
Oh Boy, Was I Wrong About Her by Hibariyu, illustrated by siso, focuses on a childhood friendship that takes an unexpected turn when a boy reunites with his former best friend at high school. His friend now presents as a beautiful girl, while privately retaining the same personality he remembers. The premise combines school romance, friendship, identity, and the awkwardness of reconnecting after years apart.
The third light novel, The Returned Tyrant Princess Rewrites Her Dark Past by Hiironoame, illustrated by Tetsuhiro Nabeshima, follows Ariadne, an imperial princess who discovers too late that she has been manipulated into committing terrible acts for Prince Siegbert. After being sentenced to death, she wakes up at age fifteen with another opportunity to change her fate and take revenge on the prince who betrayed her.
Yen Press Announces 14 New Manga Acquisitions
The largest part of the September 25 announcement is Yen Press’ 14-title manga slate. The lineup opens with Lilies in Love for 101 Days by Muromaki, a full-color collector’s edition that continues Lilies Blooming in 100 Days with another collection of yuri situations.
Lord Hades’s Vernal Honeymoon by Ueji Yuho continues the story of Hades and Kore after their marriage. The newlyweds are attempting to enjoy a peaceful life, but supernatural complications quickly interfere, including a bizarre crisis involving Hades’ frozen realm.
Romance also plays a major role in Desire of the Untouchable Flower by Mai Kaniu. The story follows Rei, a wealthy cosmetics heir with little romantic experience, and Ichijo, the bodyguard hired to protect him. Their close proximity becomes increasingly complicated as Rei discovers that his new protector has motives of his own.
Greek mythology receives a comedic spin in The Great Yet Flawed Gods by Ei Ohitsuji. The manga explores the lives of Zeus, Hera, Hades, Persephone, and other familiar mythological figures while presenting their divine relationships as a dysfunctional family drama.
I Want You to Expose Me by Suzuka Stellagi follows struggling artist Hayama, who encounters a person dressed as a woman and discovers an unexpected new subject for his paintings. The story blends art, identity, and romance as Hayama becomes increasingly interested in his unusual model.
Yen Press is also bringing the dark survival story Monster of Absolute Evil by Gagane. After police officer Nodoka Fukurougi is executed for killing 23 murderers, she is given another chance to act when a mysterious girl revives her alongside 12 other criminals for a deadly battle royale.
Horror, Fantasy, Supernatural Stories, and Anthologies Round Out the Slate
Fans of imaginative short fiction will have Singularity Love: A Kenji Tsurubunchi Collection. The collection comes from the creator of Touge Oni: Primal Gods in Ancient Times and brings together stories involving romance, mythology, supernatural mysteries, and remnants of lost human civilization.
Summer Love Begins with a Lie -squall- by ROCOCO, based on an original story by LYCORIS, follows middle schooler Kaoru after she runs away from home and encounters her teacher, Mirei Shimotsuki. The two form an unusual bond while staying together, with the story exploring the complicated emotions surrounding their relationship.
Fantasy fans can also look forward to Chef in the Demon King’s Castle: Despite All the Scary-Hot Demons, This Is a Great Workplace by YMK. The manga follows Tsumugi, a human chef and transmigrator who finds stability working in the Demon King’s castle kitchen. Her determination to protect her new life becomes the driving force behind the story.
The announcement also includes The Immortal Girl’s Breeding and Cultivation Travelogue by fujihan, based on an original story by Luna Usagi. The fantasy manga follows Pluto, a young mage who has achieved immortality while pursuing her unusual ambitions and traveling through a world filled with different creatures.
Horror takes center stage in The Parasite Princess by Toshiya Higashimoto. College student Ai Tanaka becomes increasingly uncomfortable with her new roommate, Miu Yamaguchi, whose desire to imitate Ai gradually becomes more disturbing.
YATTARA by Ooyamada follows a gluttonous monster summoned into a decadent city. Its seemingly endless appetite for destruction changes when it encounters three starving children, leading to an unusual story about hunger, survival, and the nature of monstrosity.
Chewed Flesh, Ground Bones by Paregoric is set against the backdrop of the occult boom surrounding the year 1999. Paranormal magazine editor Inubosaki and cameraman Asama investigate strange incidents before a supernatural encounter changes their lives, with the story later returning to an older Asama in 2023.
The final acquisition is Exchange Parties with Anthropomorphic Figures, an anthology edited by the HARTA Editorial Department. The collection brings together stories featuring anthropomorphic characters, gods, androids, beastmen, and other unusual figures. It also features notable creators including Ryoko Kui of Delicious in Dungeon, Suzuka Morino of Servant Beasts, and Hachi Inaba of The Tiger Won’t Eat the Dragon Yet.
With 19 acquisitions covering three publishing imprints, Yen Press’ latest announcement continues the publisher’s strategy of building a diverse catalog across manga, light novels, and audio releases.
