Many people have turned on their television and were shocked that MeTV is no longer airing on their local TV channel. The network was recently dropped by over a dozen TV stations owned by Sinclair and Scripps. TV stations are dropping MeTV to replace it with company-owned sub-channels.
MeTV was a network that would play classic and cult television series, movies, and other broadcasts. You can find the network in over a hundred places across the country. That’s unless you live in Scripps’ home state of Iowa. In Iowa, MeTV is gone from TV altogether. MeTV was a great place to find old shows and movies.
MeTV was a friendlier network than other networks on TV. They were family-friendly and would not show the most violent and bloody movies. The shows were older shows that were very quotable, letting you share with others in your family or friends what you thought about each show.
The network made it so that if a person was watching MeTV, they would not be disturbed by violent and disturbing television commercials during the broadcast of the show being watched. In any case, MeTV has been dropped in many places across America, but they can still be found here in Florida with several cable channels on local television listings.

Reason for dropping MeTV
The surprise drop in MeTV was due to Sinclair’s acquisition of Tribune Media and its Advanced Local Station group in May 2017. Most local TV stations have gone off the air in the last few months because of this merger. Many people have been wondering what could be going on as to why these TV stations have dropped MeTV.
One possible reason is that their owners have been told to drop the channel, or they could face losing their affiliation with the TV station in question. Some have speculated that Sinclair owns Scripps, so Scripps will be forced to drop MeTV to stay affiliated with a TV station.
Sinclair has denied that it is responsible for the affiliate change. Instead, many believe that Scripps may not directly influence what happens on these affiliate stations.
Nearly all of these TV station are owned by different companies, and not part of Sinclair’s portfolio like others are around the country. It’s possible some of these stations feared a loss of viewership with MeTV and would rather lose their affiliation than losing viewers.
It also seems odd that Sinclair would still be affiliated with stations in conjunction with MeTV when it owns another network. Sinclair has made it a point not to broadcast programming and fails to meet with TV stations. Nobody is sure why MeTV is being dropped from these affiliate stations.

Why MeTV is so popular?
MeTV has been the place for classic television series and movies for years. The network was created by Sony Pictures Television, Tribune Studios, and Tribune Media. The network aired in over 70 million homes at launch in January 2004. MeTV almost went out of business after Comcast acquired NBCUniversal and was able to pick up the rights to air the network on its own in 2007. However, many people still find it on their cable box due to this being a regional affiliate for Los Angeles.
MeTV is a great channel and will continue to broadcast on cable, satellite, and online. There are some streaming services that you can subscribe to that will air the network as well. If you want the network back in your area, we suggest you call your local affiliate and let them know what you think of the loss of MeTV. Make sure to inform them of how many people will be upset at their decision to drop the network if they don’t bring it back. If enough people complain about this issue, they may give in and bring it back.

There are several other ways that you can see MeTV on your television. You can use a TV antenna or one of the many online streaming services available, like Hulu, Sling TV, or DirecTV Now. The network is also offered on some cable packages as a free-to-air channel.
