Renowned vocalist Sohyang has issued a public apology following mixed reactions to her recent live performance of the song “Golden.”
The singer’s response has drawn attention for its humility and self-reflection after a rare moment of vocal criticism from the public.
The Performance at KBS ‘2026 Countdown Show’
On December 31, 2025, Sohyang took the stage at the KBS ‘2026 Countdown Show Right Now’ alongside vocalists HYNN (Park Hye Won) and Youngbin.
The trio performed “Golden,” an original soundtrack (OST) from the Netflix series ‘K-pop Demon Hunters’.
According to reports, the performance faced issues during the opening section, which Sohyang led with Youngbin.
Critics noted that some parts of the song went off-key, and Sohyang’s powerful, distinctive vocal tone—while normally a strength—did not seem to harmonize well with her fellow performers in this specific arrangement.

Netizen Reactions and Direct Apology
After the video was uploaded to KBS’s official YouTube channel, it received a wave of comments from viewers. While many fans remained supportive, others expressed disappointment, with comments such as:
- “It’s too much.”
- “None of the notes match.”
- “She’s drunk on high notes and just shouting.”
In a rare move for a top-tier artist, Sohyang personally responded to one of the critical comments on the video, writing:
“You’re right… I ruined everything… I’m very disappointed in myself.”
Reflections on Her YouTube Channel
Sohyang followed up her initial comment with a more detailed message on her own YouTube channel on New Year’s Day. She used the moment to reflect on her faith and her approach to her craft:
“Happy New Year, everyone. ‘Golden’… I really didn’t do well. But through this, I realized once again that this voice belongs to God. When I use it out of my own desire, I can only be powerless. It became an opportunity for me to once again resolve to be used humbly as the Lord’s instrument. Please pray for me.”
A Legacy of Excellence
Despite this recent criticism, Sohyang remains one of South Korea’s most respected vocalists, known for her incredible range and emotive power.
Fans have rallied around her following the apology, praising her for her accountability and “classy” response to the situation.
As she moves into 2026, industry experts expect this moment of self-reflection will only strengthen her artistry. Sohyang is expected to continue her active schedule of OST recordings and live performances throughout the year.
