Pistol shooter Kim Ye Ji, who garnered international attention, recently shared her thoughts on being mentioned by Elon Musk in an interview on ‘You Quiz on the Block.’ During the September 4 episode of tvN’s show, Kim reflected on the impact of this global recognition and her experiences since becoming famous.
Kim Ye Ji, known for her impressive performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, recounted a significant health scare. She revealed, “I spent time with my cousin in Imsil, and then I suddenly collapsed during an event.” This incident drew attention to her health and led to the cancellation of a previous appearance on the show due to health issues.
Despite her health concerns, Kim has been busy with upcoming competitions. She mentioned, “I still have several shooting competitions coming up, including the National Police Chief Shooting Championship, which is a national team selection event.” Her dedication to her sport remains strong as she continues to compete at a high level.
Discussing the changes in her life since gaining fame, Kim noted, “I only feel it when people suddenly recognize me at places like rest stops or cafes. Otherwise, it doesn’t hit me since I spend so much time training.” Her humility and focus on her sport remain evident despite her rising fame.
Kim Ye Ji humorously addressed Elon Musk’s mention of her, saying, “I didn’t think much of it. To me, he’s just some old rich guy.” Her lighthearted response highlighted her down-to-earth attitude while expressing gratitude for the attention. She also shared amusing comments from fans, such as requests to “shoot things for them” and comments on not wanting to be her enemy.
Regarding her new ventures, Kim clarified, “The agency contract was simply a way to help promote the sport more widely.” She remains committed to shooting despite the buzz around her signing with an agency and luxury brands.
Reflecting on her Paris Olympics experience, Kim confessed, “It felt like a competition where I couldn’t achieve what I wanted. I have a lot of regrets because I wasn’t able to overcome my limits.”

Kim Ye Ji, 31, represents the Imsil County Office and competed in shooting at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Her viral moment came from a performance at the ISSF Shooting World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan, where she set a world record and won gold in the 25m pistol event. Kim Ye Ji won a silver medal in the women’s 10m air pistol final at the Paris Olympics, with South Korean Oh Ye Jin securing the gold.
