TOHO made headlines on May 23rd with the announcement of its complete acquisition of Science SARU, a prominent anime studio, now established as its newest subsidiary.

TOHO released a statement expressing their expectations: “By welcoming the company into the group, we expect to strengthen our ability to produce high-quality animation and accelerate the speed of growth of our group’s animation business.”

Science SARU also shared their enthusiasm, stating: “Our mutual prospects for future business development are highly aligned. By joining the Toho Group, we aim to further grow our animation production business.”

Founded in 2013 by Masaki Yuasa and Eunyoung Choi, Science SARU has created several acclaimed titles such as The Night is Short, Walk on Girl, Lu Over the Wall, INU-OH, and Devilman Crybaby. This acquisition marks a significant step for both companies in expanding their influence in the animation industry.
