Girls Band Cry (Toei Animation)

Toei Animation recently announced via their official English Twitter account that the anime Girls Band Cry will be released digitally in English in North America on August 13.

This follows a teaser from the company the previous Friday. The anime, which first aired on April 5 and consists of 13 episodes, had not been officially available in English outside Asia until now.

Alongside the announcement, an English-subtitled trailer was also made available. In addition to this North American release, the streaming service Catchplay+ in Indonesia began offering the anime with both Indonesian and English subtitles on May 31, making it the first service to provide official English subtitles.

In late June, Thai distributor Cartoon Club revealed plans to start streaming the anime in July, complete with a Thai dub.

This marks the first international dubbing of the anime, broadening its reach and accessibility. Girls Band Cry tells the poignant stories of three girls handle various challenges.

One girl drops out of high school and moves to Tokyo, aiming to work and prepare for university. Another girl is left directionless after being betrayed by her friends.

A third girl, abandoned by her parents, works part-time jobs to survive. Despite their struggles, the girls find solace and a sense of belonging in their music.

Directed by Kazuo Sakai, the anime boasts a talented team including Jukki Hanada for series composition, nari Teshima for character design, and CGI directors Mari Kondō and Jae Hoon Jung.

The music was composed by Kenji Tamai, with Yūsuke Tanaka contributing to the musical accompaniment.
