The Vermilion Mask has confirmed when its anime adaptation will return after its first batch of episodes. The series will air as a split two-cour anime, with the second cour scheduled to begin in April 2027. The announcement arrives just before the anime’s October 10 premiere, giving viewers a clear timeline for the first major chapter of Peru d’Arrest’s journey.
The first cour will premiere on October 10, 2026, airing Saturdays at 5:30 p.m. JST on Yomiuri TV and NTV. Crunchyroll will stream the anime internationally as it airs. The first cour will consist of 12 episodes, with Episode 12 serving as its finale.
The series is based on the manga by Dr. Poro and Nabana Naba, which has been running in Young King Ours since February 2021. The manga currently has nine published volumes, while its 10th volume is scheduled for release in Japan on November 30.
THE VERMILION MASK SEASON 1 WILL CONTINUE IN APRIL 2027
The second cour of The Vermilion Mask will begin in April 2027, returning to the same Saturday 5:30 p.m. JST broadcast slot on Yomiuri TV and NTV. This confirms that viewers will not have to wait until a later season for the continuation of the story.
The anime follows Peru, a young apprentice who becomes controlled by the cursed Mask of the Warrior God. After unintentionally killing his master Gaston Roux and his fellow apprentices, Peru sets out to destroy every mask created by his former master.
The supernatural masks can grant extraordinary power, but they can also cause devastating consequences. Peru’s journey therefore combines fantasy battles with his attempt to confront his past and atone for his actions. The official description frames the story as a battle for both Peru’s redemption and the fate of the world.
STAFF AND CAST BEHIND THE ANIME
Tetsuaki Watanabe, known for directing BLUE LOCK Season 1, is directing the anime at 100studio. Gai Hazako serves as assistant director, while Daisuke Ohigashi handles series composition and Hisashi Higashijima works on character designs. Alisa Okehazama, known for her work on The Apothecary Diaries, is composing the soundtrack.
Taihi Kimura voices Peru, with Yuuki Yamamoto as Sonarue Maywood, Kazuki Ura as Mok Sharib, Kazuhiko Inoue as Gaston and Akio Otsuka as the Mask of the Warrior God.
MAN WITH A MISSION performs the opening theme “Firestarter,” while yutori performs the ending theme “Koe.” T.N.T. vocalist Yuya Tegoshi will also make a guest voice appearance in Episode 12, the final episode of the first cour.
The first cour of The Vermilion Mask begins streaming on Crunchyroll on October 10, with the second cour following in April 2027.
