Fans of the slow-burn high school romance anime The Ramparts of Ice have a reason to celebrate. The story isn’t over. Right after the 14th and final episode of Season 1 aired in Japan, the production committee officially announced Season 2 with a new teaser visual. The new season is set to premiere on October 1, 2026.
Where and When to Watch
The Ramparts of Ice Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on October 1, 2026. Like the first season, the anime will air every Thursday at 11:56 p.m. JST on TBS and its 27 affiliated TV stations across Japan.

For international fans, Netflix is expected to stream the new season as well. The platform released Season 1 worldwide with both subtitles and an English dub, making it the most likely home for Season 2 outside Japan. An official global release schedule has not been announced yet.
Season 1 debuted on April 2, 2026, featuring Novelbright’s “Tōmei (Invisible)” as the opening theme and Polkadot Stingray’s “Sakasama (Upside Down)” as the ending. So far, the production team has not confirmed whether the same artists will return for the new season’s music.
Cast and Crew Returning for Season 2
Season 2 will reunite much of the creative team behind the first season. Mankyū returns as director at Studio KAI, while Yasuhiro Nakanishi is once again in charge of the series composition. Miki Ogino is also back designing the characters, helping maintain the series’s familiar look and feel.
The anime’s soundtrack will again be composed by Kanade Sakuma and Natsumi Tabuchi, bringing continuity to the emotional tone that defined the first season.
The main voice cast is also expected to return. That includes Anna Nagase as Koyuki Hikawa, Shōya Chiba as Minato Amamiya, along with Fūka Izumi, Satoshi Inomata, and the rest of the central cast from Season 1.
A Story About Breaking Down Emotional Walls
The Ramparts of Ice story follows Koyuki Hikawa, a quiet high school student who keeps people at arm’s length, and Minato Amamiya, whose friendly personality slowly begins to break through her emotional barriers.
As their relationship develops, classmates Miki Azumi and Yōta Hino become an important part of the story, adding humor, friendship, and emotional depth to the group dynamic.
Rather than relying on dramatic twists, the series focuses on realistic teenage emotions and relationships. Its slow-burn storytelling and relatable characters have made it a favorite among romance anime fans.
From Webtoon to an Award-Winning Hit
The anime is based on Kōcha Agasawa’s manga, which first launched as a LINE Manga webtoon in January 2020 before ending in April 2022. The complete story was later collected into 14 volumes by Shueisha.
Even before receiving an anime adaptation, the manga had earned widespread recognition. It ranked among the top titles in Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2024, received a nomination at the 69th Shogakukan Manga Awards and was recognized at the Rakuten Kobo E-book Awards.
The series also placed second in AnimeJapan’s “Most Wanted Anime Adaptation” poll, showing strong fan demand long before Season 1 arrived. Its successful anime adaptation has only helped expand its audience.
What Comes Next</h2>
With Season 2 now officially confirmed, fans can look forward to the story continuing this fall. While the announcement included a teaser visual, the production committee has not yet shared a full trailer or additional story details.
More information about the returning cast, theme songs, promotional videos, and Netflix’s international streaming plans is expected in the months leading up to the October 1, 2026, premiere.
For now, the renewal confirms that Koyuki and Minato’s story is far from over, giving fans another chance to follow one of this year’s most well-received high school romance anime.
