The Night Owl ending is what fans are curious about right now. The film was released in 2022 and gave us the genre of period thriller drama, which is set in South Korea. We see the times during the Joseon Dynasty in the country. The plot features the mystery around Crown Prince Sohyeon, who returned from the Qing Dynasty in the Joseon Injo period.

In the beginning, we are introduced to Kyung Soo, who is blind but has the skill of acupuncture. Soon, his talent is recognized at the court, and thus, he enters the palace. Kyung Soo is invited by Lee Hyung Ik. This was the same time around which Crown Prince Sohyeon came back to the palace. He was taken hostage by the Qing Dynasty for eight years.

As for Injo, who is too grateful and happy about the return of his son, he is also dealing with major anxiety issues that are eating him up. It is not yet revealed what was happening. Kyung Soo, who is able to see a little in the dark, witnesses the death of Crown Prince Sohyeon. Although, he is still considered a blind man, and thus, his word is no good.

As for Injo, who was already anxious and suffering, he goes even more mad over the death of his son. His condition starts to worsen, and things slip out of hand for everyone. It only lies in Kyung Soo’s hands to reveal it to the King and make people believe about what happened to the crown prince and who killed him.

The film was a huge success in South Korea as well as other international countries where it was released. The movie earned a gross profit of over 26 million dollars. Critics claimed that it has a beautiful plot as well as cinematography that captures the true essence of period drama set in South Korea as well as its cultures of the time.

The Night Owl Ending Explained

By the end of the film, when we see that the King is not okay and is definitely going through a lot after his son’s death, he is approached by Kyung Soo. The blind acupuncture artist tells him about what he saw the other night when the crime happened.

Turns out that King Injo himself was the one who killed his son and poisoned the boy that night. He also demands that the King or not he should be held accountable for the death of the child. This makes the King even more furious than before, and he demands that Kyung Soo should be executed at once.

Well, the tables turn when Kyung Soo is able to escape from the wrath of the King. He is helped from the inside by Crown Princess Kang, who believes his story and thinks that her father is the murderer. She helps Kyung Soo, and they go into hiding together. By the end of the film, we see that the King’s men are able to find the duo, although they escape again.

The ending of the film was a bit tough to understand as we saw how it ended on a note where we can not determine anything that happens next. There was no explanation of what would happen next to them or what their fates were. It is now up to viewers to decide.

There are two possibilities that could happen. The first one is positive as dome think that the two, in the future, will be able to bring the King to justice for his crimes. There is also a possibility that they are found by the King’s men and are killed because it sure won’t be easy out there for them. It is all up to the imagination of the viewers now.
