The Last House has made a major debut on Netflix, drawing 27.5 million views in its first three days on the streaming service. The Greta Lee and Wagner Moura-led sci-fi thriller topped Netflix’s viewing rankings for the week of August 3-9, making it the platform’s biggest title during the period.
The performance also placed The Last House comfortably ahead of the other major English-language movies on Netflix. Kevin Hart’s 72 Hours followed with 11.1 million views during its third week, while Spider-Man: Far From Home and Spider-Man: Homecoming recorded 5 million and 4.9 million views, respectively.
The Last House Becomes Netflix’s Biggest Movie of the Week
According to Netflix’s Top 10 data charts, the film’s 27.5 million views were enough to make it both the No. 1 English-language movie and the most-watched title across Netflix’s rankings for the week.
Directed by Louis Leterrier, The Last House follows a family of four mysteriously sealed inside their home with no way to escape. As their supplies diminish, they must work together while trying to understand the mysterious force keeping them trapped.
Netflix’s official Tudum previously highlighted the survival element at the center of the story. Lee said she was drawn to the project because she enjoyed
“survivalist stories with a twist,”
while Moura described the film’s family stakes as something he connected with personally.
The strong opening gives The Last House an early advantage as it continues its Netflix run, with its next weekly performance likely to determine whether the thriller can maintain its position near the top of the platform’s rankings.
