The Dark Gets In will receive its UK premiere at Tubi FrightFest Halloween on October 31, 2026, at 4:10 PM. Directed and written by British filmmaker Sean Hogan, the 91-minute horror film follows a documentary team investigating the mysterious disappearance of a teenage girl. What begins as a seemingly impossible missing-person case gradually develops into a disturbing mystery with potentially supernatural explanations.
Produced by Evrim Ersoy under the Deviant Films banner, the film uses a mock-true-crime documentary format to build tension around a disappearance that appears to defy logic. Security footage reveals no one entering or leaving the missing girl’s home, while police leads repeatedly fail to produce answers. The investigation takes a darker turn when a witness identifies the prime suspect as someone who has been dead for years.
The film combines its unsettling premise with a family’s grief, exploring how the fear of losing a loved one can become something even more terrifying when the truth remains beyond understanding.
The Dark Gets In Cast and Creative Team
The cast includes Charlotte Pyke as Natasha, Cameron Lewis as Rory, Scott Burchell as Owen, and Kezia Cotterell as Aisling, the teenager whose disappearance drives the story. Hogan worked closely with the actors to make the film’s documentary-style performances feel convincing.
Paul Goodwin and Jim Hinson handled cinematography, while Goodwin and Nick Harwood served as editors. John De Simone composed the music, which supports the film’s gradual shift from a grounded investigation to supernatural horror.
Sean Hogan Explains the Film’s Documentary Approach
Hogan said he wanted to turn the premise of a true-crime documentary into something more unexpected, gradually revealing a frightening reality beneath the mystery. He also aimed to give the horror an emotional foundation rooted in the experience of sudden bereavement.

The production used improvisation to strengthen the performances and create a more natural documentary atmosphere. Although the cast received a written screenplay, Hogan encouraged the actors to treat it as a guide, allowing them to contribute spontaneous moments while keeping the main narrative intact.
Hogan’s previous feature work includes The Devil’s Business, The Borderlands, Future! The Story of 2000AD, and folk horror film To Fire You Come at Last, which premiered on Shudder as the first instalment of The Haunted Season.
The Dark Gets In runs for 91 minutes and was produced in the United Kingdom in English. The film is presented in 2K with a 2.35:1 aspect ratio, a 24fps frame rate, and 5.1 sound.
Its UK premiere is scheduled for October 31, 2026, at 4:10 PM as part of Tubi FrightFest Halloween. The festival screening offers horror fans an opportunity to see Hogan’s supernatural mystery on the big screen.
