TurtleMe Is Unsure About The Beginning After The End’s Future
TurtleMe addressed the situation through a series of posts on X on September 23. He explained that Tapas had effectively been his creative home for eight years and that he was still trying to understand what the shutdown would mean for his work.
“I’m still trying to understand what exactly is going on, but suffice to say, I’m still in shock,”
TurtleMe wrote, adding that he “don’t know what comes next” while he works through the situation with Tapas.
Despite the uncertainty, the creator reassured fans that he intends to keep his projects moving forward. He specifically stated that he would do everything possible to ensure his series continues, asking readers to give him and the team some time while they determine their next steps.
TurtleMe also highlighted that he is not the only creator facing uncertainty. He encouraged fans to follow their favorite Tapas creators on social media so they can continue supporting their work if the platform disappears.
Tapas Shutdown Leaves Thousands of Creators Facing Uncertainty
Kakao Entertainment announced the Tapas shutdown on September 22 as part of a broader restructuring of its story business. The company is also consolidating its Korean webtoon operations by integrating Kakao Webtoon into KakaoPage, with the changes expected to be completed during 2026.
Tapas reportedly hosts more than 100,000 titles from around 75,000 creators, meaning its closure could affect a large number of independent artists and established franchises. Several major webtoon properties have been associated with the platform, including The Beginning After The End, Solo Leveling, Overgeared and Villains Are Destined to Die.
The situation is also notable because Kakao acquired Tapas in 2021 alongside web novel platform Radish as part of a major push into the North American market. Kakao reportedly invested approximately 1.1 trillion won in the two platforms. Radish was subsequently shut down in 2025, while Kakao is now winding down Tapas as part of its broader restructuring.
For The Beginning After The End readers, the immediate question is where the series will continue once Tapas is gone. TurtleMe has not yet revealed a new platform or publishing arrangement, but his latest comments indicate that discussions are still underway.
