By eliminating two major characters, streamlining the investigation plot, and allowing the main characters’ emotions to emerge, the show seemed to finally discover its true identity. This week, although calmer, the story feels more grounded following the intense Jedi massacre.
It seems the plan was always to play a long game with setups and misdirections, aiming to excel in the second half of the season with reversed roles and complex morals.
As the live-action introduction to the High Republic era and an initial attempt at a murder mystery, The Acolyte had the potential to be much better. At this point, if the show can maintain its momentum in the final two episodes, it will be considered a satisfactory Star Wars addition.
Episode 6 primarily follows Sol and Mae (disguised as Osha) on the Jedi ship at Khofar, and Qimir and Osha on the unknown planet where Mae met Qimir (the Stranger) at the end of the premiere.
Characters are either undergoing significant changes or revealing their pasts. Meanwhile, a group of Jedi led by Vernestra Rwoh investigates the events on Khofar, as Sol fails to warn them about the potential Sith threat.
Most online discussions, excluding the blind hate, focus on Osha and Qimir’s relationship, which has noticeable ‘Reylo’ undertones and escalating temptation.
Even before the show began, there was a noticeable young adult literature vibe that could help it connect with younger audiences who shipped the sequel trilogy cast.
Following last week’s nod to those who enjoyed the prequels’ fast-paced lightsaber battles, this development feels well-earned within and outside the show’s narrative.
Additionally, Qimir claims he was a Jedi betrayed by his master, seemingly dismissing theories of his Sith past. He emphasizes that he never identified as a Sith in the traditional sense, suggesting the Jedi label anyone who diverges from their strict views on the Force as Sith.
It’s also worth noting series creator Leslye Headland’s comments on the brief use of Kylo Ren’s musical theme in last week’s episode: “It is there on purpose, but I can’t tell you why, and I can’t go into what it is. But you shall see.”

The Acolyte Episode 6 is a calmer chapter that focuses on character development. There's a potential Reylo-esque romance brewing between Osha and Qimir, which caters to younger viewers. Qimir's past remains unclear; his claim of being a betrayed Jedi casts doubt on his true allegiance. The use of Kylo Ren's theme hints at a possible connection to the Knights of Ren. The episode had potential but could have been better. If it sticks the landing, it might be considered a decent Star Wars addition, but it falls short of its initial promise.
