Season 3 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is currently in production while Season 2 continues to air. A new cast member has joined the team, and it’s none other than the famous British comedy star, Stephen Merchant. Merchant shared the exciting news on Instagram with a photo of himself styled in a Daryl Dixon theme.
In the post, he wrote, “As a fan of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, I was excited when they asked me to join the WD universe for Season 3. But don’t ask me for spoilers — my lips are sealed.”
While fans of the English writer-director are thrilled about this announcement, many Daryl Dixon enthusiasts will likely search the post for clues about what to expect from Season 3, which is currently being filmed in Spain.
Although Merchant didn’t reveal any details about his character, viewers are sure to expect an impressive performance from the comedy legend. For those not familiar with Merchant, he’s well-known among U.K. comedy lovers as the co-writer and co-director of The Office and Extras with Ricky Gervais.
He’s also been involved in projects like The Outlaws, Logan, and Jojo Rabbit, and provided the voice for the AI companion Wheatley in the video game Portal 2.
Daryl’s Journey Continues in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon first aired in September 2023 with six episodes. Even before its premiere, the series was renewed for a second season called The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol.
Season 2 is now on the air, having started last month, and continues to follow Daryl’s (played by Norman Reedus) journey through France as he tries to return home. During his journey, he meets a nun named Isabelle (played by Clémence Poésy) and a child named Laurent (played by Louis Puech Scigliuzzi).
Additionally, Melissa McBride’s character Carol is back in the Walking Dead universe for Season 2 of the AMC spin-off, as she searches for Daryl.
Carol is also set to return in Season 3, which is being filmed in Spain, and some scenes might take place in the U.K., with Stephen Merchant joining the cast.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 2 airs on AMC every Sunday at 9 PM ET.
