Stephen K. Amos is a British stand-up comedian from London. He earned nominations for Chortie’s Best Compere Award numerous times, more precisely in 2004, 2007, and 2008. When it comes to his comedy genres, it is mostly observational and political satire.
Last year, Stephen K. Amos appeared in the West End cast of My Fair Lady. It was held at the London Coliseum, where he portrayed Alfred P. Doolittle. Some of his television appearances include Have I Got News for You, The Bill, Spicks and Specks, and Coming of Age.
Not everyone knows that in 2013, Stephen K. Amos also actively participated in The Great British Bake Off.
Returning to Stephen K. Amos’s controversy, he revealed his sexuality in 2006. After four years, specifically in 2010, the news of an 18-year-old boy’s death highlighted the former. The comedian was suspected of the cause, receiving enough criticism. What happened?

Stephen K. Amos Controversy Explained
It all started back in 2006 at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Stephen K. Amos presented his solo act – “All of Me.” The comedian was very confident and brave while revealing his sexuality.
In other words, Stephen was vocal about being a gay person during this performance. This revelation was more like a reflection of him being true to himself.
After some years, a teenage student, Ben Cowburn, committed suicide. The incident occurred in December 2010, creating shocking waves in several communities.
Why did he do that? Unfortunately, it was alleged that a couple of days before his premature death, Ben shared with his pals about “feeling belittled and humiliated by an unnamed gay television comedian.”
This single statement of him sparked controversy surrounding Stephen K. Amos. Undoubtedly, it was a sensitive matter. Guess what? Stephen K. Amos didn’t confirm or pass any comment surrounding the allegations.
Ben didn’t cite the name of that comedian. Therefore, it was not safe to blame Stephen K. Amos unless otherwise proved that he was responsible.
The allegations didn’t stop right there. It was also reported that the TV comedian once persuaded Ben to strip before a group of men. The teenager also shared how he (the funnyman) used to creep into his bed at night for sexual intimacy.
Now, the question is – why Ben Cowburn? What was the relationship between him and the unnamed comedian? To attend the Fashion Retail Academy, the teen guy relocated to LoBenon.
That was the place where he met the comedian. It was in September 2009 when the two allegedly started sharing a romance. His mother, Sharon Cowburn, shared, “Ben had met a celebrity in a pub when he was out with friends.” The comedian offered Ben to be his stylist.
But, the two had a fallout, following which the funnyman wouldn’t answer his calls. Because of that, Ben was left very confused and desperate. Can we not call that a form of depression? It’s understandable why Ben’s family still seeks answers for the ugly cause.
This entire incident sparked controversies for Stephen K. Amos. But let’s not spread negativity or hatred toward this funny man since it’s not yet confirmed. The news of Ben committing suicide many times is indeed very saddening. Still, we can’t blame anyone randomly on that.
Several celebrity comedians are gay as a person. It has nothing to do with just because Stephen K. Amos came out like that recently.
