Chinese BL Stay With Me has aired its final episode this week and has left us on a major cliffhanger that needs some explaining. As unexpected as the heartbreaking ending was, Stay With Me’s final scenes have also left room for future seasons that we might see soon. Airing since July 2023, Stay With Me is a Chinese adaptation of Addicted that revolves around Su Yu and Wu Bi, a distinct pair that prove that opposites attract.
The duo ends up meeting under very strange and sad conditions, as Su Yu’s mother had left him and his father to be with Wu Bi’s richer dad, making Wu Bi and Su Yu step-brothers.
They have a very cold relationship at first, but as they spend more and more time together, Su Yu and Wu Bi realize that they like each other’s company, despite the condition of their families. Stay With Me’s crew consists of Xu Bin in the role of Wu Bi and Zhang Jiong Min as Su Yu.
Stay With Me: What Happens In The Final Episode?
In the final episode of Stay With Me, we see that Wu Bi’s confused as to why his elder brother would rent out the second floor of the house to Su Yu’s family. Su Yu was under the impression that the house surprise was from Wu Bi. Mo Yi meets Su Yu, and needless to say, Su Yu’s surprised that he would show up while Wu Bi’s not at home, wearing his clothes.
Since Su Yu’s dad was suffering from back pain, Mo Yi offered to contact one of the Nation’s best doctors. He later also asks Su Yu if he’d like a quick haircut, to which he agrees. Wu Bi shows up and pushes Mo Yi away. Mo Yi informs him about a court hearing that is set for the next day and threatens Wu Bi to be there for him on time.
Wu Bi offers to drop Su Yu off as he leaves for court, but when Mo Yi hears this, he becomes frustrated. As he drives, Wu Bi notices that the car’s brakes have completely been cut off.
He tries to slow down the car without using its brakes, but when a truck shows up in front of them, Wu Bi isn’t able to do anything. They head straight into the truck, and the car’s windshield is crushed.
Stay With Me: Ending Explained
When Su Yu wakes up, he sees that Wu Bi tried to protect him and took the blow of the accident himself. Su Yu somehow gets out of the car and rushes towards the ambulance, carrying Wu Bi on his back.
Seeing Wu Bi so helpless and weak made Su Yu realize that he couldn’t live without him and would give away everything just to have him back.
The ambulance takes Su Yu and Wu Bi to the hospital, where we see Wu Bi being taken into the operating room immediately. As Su Yu remembers the time he spent with Wu Bi, the doctors arrive with the news. However, before we could know whether Wu Bi made it or not, the episode ended abruptly.
Stay With Me’s ending turned out to be a very heartbreaking cliffhanger, as no one would have expected Wu Bi to end up in an accident out of nowhere. Mo Yi seemed like a psychopath, but his going this far to remove Su Yu from Wu Bi’s life was unexpected too. The car accident was originally meant for Su Yu, as Mo Yi had intentionally cut off his car’s brakes.
Since Su Yu was a new driver, he wouldn’t have been able to stop the car at all, guaranteeing his death. Wu Bi made a good decision by choosing to drive Su Yu before leaving for court. However, he had to face the cunning plan that his brother had intended for Su Yu. The cliffhanger is probably a way that the creators are letting us know about a second season of Stay With Me.
There are so many things that need to be resolved asides from Wu Bi’s condition, so it’s likely that we’ll be seeing a second installment added to the drama soon. There’s also going to be a major confrontation between Su Yu, Wu Bi, and Mo Yi, as he is responsible for this big mess. The ending was intentionally left incomplete, as all of the answers will be provided in the next season of Stay With Me.
