The immensely popular Solo Leveling anime has officially confirmed its second season, extending the series with a total of 24 to 25 episodes.

After the release of Solo Leveling Episode 12, titled “Arise,” the official Solo Leveling account announced that Season 2 is scheduled for release in October 2024. Accompanying the announcement was the revealing  of the first Season 2 trailer, along with its official title – “Arise from the Shadow.” Fans can find the official post below for more details.

Anticipation for Solo Leveling Season 2 has been building for some time. Comments from Netmarble CEO Kwon Young-sik, made during the development of the upcoming Solo Leveling video game, hinted at the possibility of a second season.

Referring to the first season, he expressed confidence in its reception on platforms like Netflix. This led many to speculate that plans for a continuation were already in motion, especially with the imminent launch of the Solo Leveling: Arise game beta in April 2024.

Furthermore, viewers of the recent Solo Leveling documentary, “The Leveling of Solo Leveling,” caught glimpses of designs featuring the character Beru. As Beru’s appearance occurs later in the original manhwa, speculation arose on social media that Crunchyroll had inadvertently leaked news of a Season 2.

Regardless of these hints, Solo Leveling’s immense popularity made the prospect of additional episodes highly likely, following in the footsteps of other successful series like Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End and The Apothecary Diaries, which have also hinted at continuations, with the latter confirmed for 2025.

Solo Leveling Season 2 is scheduled for release in October 2024 and will be available for streaming on Crunchyroll. CEO Rahul Purini of Crunchyroll recently disclosed that the company initially proposed the anime series to Aniplex based on feedback from its global audience. Crunchyroll describes Solo Leveling as follows:

“They say whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, but that’s not the case for the world’s weakest hunter Sung Jinwoo. After being brutally slaughtered by monsters in a high-ranking dungeon, Jinwoo came back with the System, a program only he could see, that’s leveling him up in every way. Now, he’s inspired to discover the secrets behind his powers and the dungeon that spawned them.”
