Shudder has unveiled the official trailer for Infirmary, an upcoming found-footage horror movie that turns an abandoned psychiatric hospital into the setting for a nightmarish mystery. Directed by Nicholas Pineda, the film follows a security guard whose first shift at the deserted facility takes an increasingly terrifying turn before he disappears.
The movie will premiere exclusively on Shudder and AMC+ on October 2, 2026, as part of Shudder’s annual Season of Screams programming lineup. The streaming service describes Infirmary as a story built around recovered bodycam footage from a guard who vanished during his first night at an old psychiatric hospital.
A Routine Security Job Becomes a Nightmare
Infirmary follows Edward, a former Marine who takes an overnight security job at an abandoned hospital. His routine assignment soon turns into a terrifying ordeal when he begins noticing strange movements, unexplained noises, and other disturbing activity throughout the deserted building.
He is joined by Lester, a more experienced guard who knows the location and its troubling history. The trailer establishes their uneasy dynamic before the situation deteriorates. An apparent intruder enters the hospital, strange events begin occurring throughout the building, and Lester eventually disappears.
The film uses bodycam and security-camera footage to present Edward’s ordeal. That approach keeps viewers close to the protagonist while also allowing the filmmakers to conceal threats in the darkness and empty spaces surrounding him.
The Trailer Leans Into Found-Footage Horror
Rather than revealing exactly what is stalking Edward, the trailer emphasizes atmosphere and uncertainty. Dark corridors, unexplained movements, and the hospital’s abandoned rooms create the impression that the character is being watched even when nothing obvious is visible.
The recovered-footage concept is also central to the mystery. Viewers already know Edward vanishes, meaning the footage itself becomes evidence of what happened during his final night inside the hospital.
The setup gives Infirmary a familiar horror framework while leaving plenty of room for the supernatural elements to remain mysterious.
Nicholas Pineda Makes His Feature Directing Debut
Pineda directs Infirmary and produced the movie alongside Katy Krauland, who also co-wrote the screenplay with him. The cast includes Paul Syre as Edward, Mark Anthony Williams as Lester, and Danielle Kennedy as Ms. Downey.
Pineda’s arrival on Shudder is particularly notable because Infirmary represents his first feature film. In a post announcing the acquisition, Pineda described the movie as his first film, saying making it was an exhausting experience, created with a small group of close collaborators.
