Scavengers Reign has made its Netflix debut, bringing new hope for the animated series after its original run with Max in 2023 was cut short. Despite initial success among animation fans, Warner Bros. Discovery chose not to proceed with further episodes, effectively canceling the project.
However, a recent non-exclusive streaming deal with Netflix has revived the series, with the potential for a second season depending on its reception on the platform.
It was reported that there’s interest in renewing Scavengers Reign for a second season if it performs well on Netflix, prompting fans and even acclaimed director Guillermo Del Toro to show support on social media.
The series, conceived by Joseph Bennett and Charles Huettner and expanded from their original Scavengers short film in 2016, is a collaboration between Green Street Pictures and Titmouse, Inc.
Now available on Netflix in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Ireland, Scavengers Reign currently consists of 12 episodes.
The series follows the surviving crew of a damaged deep space freighter stranded on a beautiful yet perilous planet. As they struggle to survive and await rescue, they uncover the true nature of their environment.
