Prime Video has announced the premiere date for Fallout Shelter: The Experiment, an unscripted competition series inspired by the popular Fallout video game franchise and its live-action television adaptation. The show will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on January 13, 2027, bringing the franchise’s post-apocalyptic setting into a real-world reality competition.

Announced on October 23, 2026, as part of the franchise’s Fallout Day celebrations, the series will feature contestants competing inside Vault-Tec’s bomb-proof shelters. Participants will face physical challenges, psychological dilemmas, and difficult moral decisions as they attempt to prove their survival skills.

According to the official announcement, the season will consist of 10 episodes. The first four episodes will arrive on premiere day, followed by three episodes weekly through January 27, 2027. The competition will culminate in one winner receiving a $1 million prize. The series is scheduled to stream in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

FALLOUT SHELTER: THE EXPERIMENT WILL TEST CONTESTANTS’ SURVIVAL SKILLS

Unlike the scripted Fallout television series, Fallout Shelter: The Experiment will focus on everyday participants rather than fictional characters. Contestants will enter Vault-Tec’s shelters and compete in a series of challenges designed around the franchise’s themes of survival, human behavior, and life after an apocalypse.

The official announcement describes the competition as a series of

“high-octane drills, psychological dilemmas and morally challenging behavior trials.”

These challenges will test participants’ ability to handle pressure and make difficult decisions while competing for the grand prize.

The format draws inspiration from the Fallout universe, where Vault-Tec constructs underground shelters to protect people from nuclear devastation. The series will bring that setting into a reality competition, although specific challenge rules and contestant details have not yet been fully disclosed.
