Prime Video has officially renewed Invincible for a sixth season, reinforcing the platform’s long-term commitment to one of its most successful animated franchises. The announcement comes months before Season 5 is set to premiere, signaling strong confidence in the show’s continued growth and audience demand worldwide.
The renewal was confirmed by creator Robert Kirkman during his appearance at the Annecy International Animation Festival, where he also shared insights into the series’ journey and future direction.
According to Kirkman and production company Skybound Entertainment, the recently completed Season 4 has become the most-watched season in the show’s history, reaching the Top 10 in over 50 countries.
A Global Hit That Keeps Expanding
Since its debut on Prime Video, Invincible has steadily evolved into a global phenomenon. The series follows Mark Grayson, a teenage superhero, steering the complexities of his powers and identity under the shadow of his father, Omni-Man.
The show’s popularity extends far beyond streaming numbers. Skybound reports that Invincible has generated over 7 billion views across TikTok, highlighting its massive cultural footprint and ability to connect with younger audiences.
Kirkman acknowledged this impact during his Annecy masterclass, stating,
“One of the biggest rewards of building Invincible over the years has been witnessing how new audiences continue to connect with these characters and this world.”
He added that the early renewal reflects both fan passion and the dedication of the creative team behind the scenes.
The decision to renew Invincible so far in advance is not accidental. The series has become a flagship title for Prime Video’s animation slate, offering a mature, character-driven alternative to traditional superhero content.
Kirkman also highlighted the contributions of longtime supervising directors Shaun O’Neill and Dan Duncan, who are now stepping into expanded roles as executive producers. Their continued involvement ensures creative consistency as the story progresses into deeper and more complex arcs.

This long-term planning aligns with the original comic series, which ran for 146 issues over 15 years and sold more than 6 million copies globally. The show’s ability to adapt that extensive narrative into a cohesive television format has been a key factor in its sustained success.
Season 5 Teases New Additions and Bigger Stakes
While Season 6 is now confirmed, attention is also shifting toward Season 5, which is expected to release next year. Kirkman revealed that Jack Quaid will join the voice cast, with fans at Annecy getting an exclusive first look at his character.
Although plot details remain under wraps, the upcoming season is expected to push the story into darker and more emotionally intense territory, continuing the show’s trend of blending superhero spectacle with grounded character drama.
Kirkman also shared an interesting behind-the-scenes anecdote, revealing that he once attempted to develop an Invincible movie script years ago. He described it candidly as “absolutely horrible,” noting that the project never moved forward. In hindsight, the television format has proven to be the ideal medium for the story’s depth and scope.
