Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of FTX, remains the central figure in Prime Video’s upcoming The Boy Who Stole Billions docuseries.

Prime Video has announced The Boy Who Stole Billions?, a new three-part docuseries examining the collapse of cryptocurrency exchange FTX and the criminal case involving its founder, Sam Bankman-Fried. The series was announced on October 6, 2026, and is scheduled to premiere in November on Prime Video across more than 240 countries and territories.

The documentary will feature exclusive interviews with Bankman-Fried from prison, giving him an opportunity to tell his version of events surrounding the collapse of his cryptocurrency empire. The series will also include previously unseen interviews with people who helped build FTX, providing additional perspectives on the company’s rise and eventual downfall.

Produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Propagate, and West Buttermilk, the series will explore Bankman-Fried’s inner circle, his leadership of FTX, and his complicated relationship with Caroline Ellison, the company’s former CEO and his former girlfriend.

Sam Bankman-Fried Tells His Story From Prison

At the height of FTX’s success, Bankman-Fried was 30 years old and oversaw a cryptocurrency business valued at approximately $32 billion. His company later collapsed, with Bankman-Fried convicted of stealing approximately $8 billion in customer funds.

The Boy Who Stole Billions? will examine the circumstances surrounding the collapse while presenting Bankman-Fried’s own account from prison. The central question of the documentary is whether the events amounted to deliberate fraud or whether his increasingly risky decisions spiraled beyond his control.

Sam Bankman-Fried arrives at a New York court during proceedings connected to the FTX fraud case.

The series will combine his firsthand account with interviews from individuals who were involved in building FTX, offering multiple perspectives on the company’s rapid rise and collapse.

Beyond Bankman-Fried’s story, the documentary will examine the pressure surrounding FTX and the relationships within his inner circle. Caroline Ellison’s role is expected to receive particular attention because of her position as CEO of Alameda Research and her personal relationship with Bankman-Fried.

The three-part series is executive produced by Howard T. Owens, Ben Silverman, Drew Buckley, Isabel San Vargas, Taylor Levin, Nanette Burstein, and James Packer.

All three episodes of The Boy Who Stole Billions? will be released on Prime Video in November 2026, giving viewers a new documentary examination of one of the most significant cryptocurrency scandals in recent history.
