A new Pokémon Winds and Waves leak has sparked excitement among fans by claiming that Psyduck could finally receive a brand-new evolution nearly three decades after its debut. If the rumor proves accurate, it would mark the first major expansion to Psyduck’s evolutionary family since the Pokémon first appeared in Pokémon Red and Blue.
The claim comes from recent discussions within the Pokémon leak community and suggests that Game Freak may introduce a new Ice/Psychic-type version of Psyduck. However, neither The Pokémon Company nor Game Freak has confirmed the report, meaning fans should treat the information as speculation until an official announcement is made.
Rumor suggests Psyduck could gain a brand-new evolution line
According to Pokémon news account Light88 on X, the rumored Gen 10 version of Psyduck could appear as either a regional form or a convergent species. The report claims it would feature an Ice/Psychic typing and evolve into two entirely new Pokémon instead of becoming Golduck.

“A new leak claims Psyduck could receive either a Regional Form or a Convergent Form, becoming Ice/Psychic-type and gaining two brand-new evolutions, creating an entirely new three-stage line. Its evolution reportedly wouldn’t be Golduck, but a completely new Pokémon.”
The rumor also suggests the Pokémon would inhabit frozen regions of the new games. Earlier reports from the Pokémon leak community have claimed that Pokémon Winds and Waves will feature snowy environments, including an icicle snowfield and snowy mountain area, making those locations possible habitats if the leak turns out to be accurate.
The report was shared by Light88 on X and discussed by Vice, although neither source cites official confirmation from Game Freak or The Pokémon Company.
Fans should remain cautious until Game Freak makes an announcement
One of the biggest uncertainties surrounding the leak is whether the rumored Pokémon would be a traditional regional variant or a convergent species, a concept introduced in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet with Pokémon such as Wiglett.
Recent games have also expanded older evolution lines in different ways. Pokémon Sword and Shield introduced regional evolutions for Galarian Slowpoke, while The Teal Mask DLC added Dipplin and later Hydrapple to the existing Applin family.
