Nintendo has released system update 23.0.1 for both Nintendo Switch 2 and the original Nintendo Switch. Released on September 30, the update focuses entirely on fixing a software performance issue that appeared after the previous 23.0.0 firmware update.
According to Nintendo’s official patch notes, Version 23.0.1 fixes an issue where software could occasionally take an unusually long time to start, pause, or close after updating to Version 23.0.0.
The update does not introduce any new features or major system changes. Instead, it serves as a targeted fix for the regression found in the previous firmware.
Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch owners can install the update through System Settings > System > System Update. Nintendo also notes that consoles connected to the internet will generally download the latest system update automatically.
Version 23.0.1 arrives shortly after the much larger 23.0.0 update, which brought several system-level additions to Nintendo Switch 2. These included VRR support in TV mode, new GameChat improvements, additional Virtual Game Card settings and the ability to transfer data between Switch 2 consoles.
The original Nintendo Switch received the same 23.0.1 fix, meaning owners of both console generations should update their systems if they have not already done so.
