New York Comic Con 2026 welcomed more than 250,000 attendees to the Javits Center from October 8 to 11, celebrating its 20th anniversary with entertainment announcements, celebrity appearances, comic creators, cosplay, and merchandise. According to NYCC’s October 14 press release, the convention generated an estimated $91 million for New York City’s economy, based on figures from New York City Tourism + Conventions.

What began as a convention attracting approximately 33,000 visitors to a single hall has grown into one of the world’s major pop culture events. This year’s program featured stars including Nicolas Cage, Paul Bettany, Matt Smith, Hayden Christensen, and Ian McDiarmid, alongside panels showcasing anticipated television series and films.

The convention also expanded its professional programming, brought together hundreds of publishers and artists, and gave fans unable to attend in person access to selected panels through online livestreams.

NYCC 2026 FEATURES MAJOR TRAILERS AND CELEBRITY APPEARANCES

The 20th-anniversary convention brought together stars and creative teams behind several anticipated productions. Panels featured updates and trailer debuts for Paramount+’s Dexter: Resurrection, Avatar: Seven Havens, Peacock’s Crystal Lake, ABC’s The Rookie, Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians, CBS’ Ghosts, Prime Video’s Blade Runner 2099, Children of Blood and Bone, and Whalefall from 20th Century Studios and Imagine Entertainment.

The celebrity lineup included Nicolas Cage, Paul Bettany, Lena Headey, Matt Smith, Hayden Christensen, and Ian McDiarmid. Voice actors associated with franchises such as One Piece, Final Fantasy VII, and Naruto also appeared, connecting fans with performers from popular anime and video games.

NYCC introduced its first Getty Portrait Studio, welcoming guests including Josh Brolin, Linda Cardellini, Alexandra Daddario, Carrie-Anne Moss, Norman Reedus, and Gabourey Sidibe. NFL star Rob Gronkowski also made a surprise appearance in Doctor Doom cosplay.

The show floor featured more than 650 publishers, brands, and retailers, including Bandai, Dark Horse, DC, Funko, Marvel, Penguin Random House, Scholastic, VIZ Media, and Webtoon. More than 500 artists participated in Artist Alley, with established comic creators such as Frank Miller, Jim Lee, Chris Claremont, Tom King, and Peach Momoko among those featured.

COSPLAY CHAMPIONSHIP HIGHLIGHTS FAN CREATIVITY

Cosplay remained a major part of the convention, with the Cosplay Central Crown Championships regional qualifier taking place on October 10. Silwen Cosplay won first place and the regional championship for a Sakizo Giulietta costume, earning $1,000 and a place in the national finals at C2E2 2027.

Gillian Conahan finished second with a Lune cosplay from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, while Savant Celestial placed third as Mother Miranda from Resident Evil. Additional category winners included Where You At At as Ciri from The Witcher for Armor, Bombshell Beckie for an X-Men-inspired Mystique and Gambit fusion in FX, and Annieexmachina for Gideon from Gideon the Ninth in Needlework.

The convention also hosted Coney Island-inspired sideshow performances on the Community Stage. Professional programming expanded across five days in the River Pavilion, with selected sessions opened to aspiring professionals for the first time.

ReedPop executive Kristina Rogers credited the community for the event’s growth, saying,

“New York Comic Con would not be what it is today without our incredible community.”

NEW YORK COMIC CON RETURNS IN OCTOBER 2027

Fans who could not attend NYCC 2026 in person were able to watch selected panels from the Empire Stage and Main Stage through the convention’s social channels and the Popverse YouTube channel.

The convention’s 20th-anniversary edition reflects how an event that began with a comparatively small gathering has developed into a major meeting point for entertainment companies, comic creators, retailers, and international fan communities. Its combination of industry announcements, professional opportunities, cosplay competitions, and fan experiences continues to make it a significant event for the pop culture industry.

New York Comic Con will return to the Javits Center from October 7 to 10, 2027. Fans can follow announcements about tickets, guests, and programming through the official NYCC website.
