One of the priciest TV series ever made just got a fresh update before its Season 2 debut. The official Rings of Power X account has shared a new poster for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2, featuring Adar (Joseph Mawle) holding Sauron’s (Charlie Vickers) crown.

The first episode of Season 2 will air on Prime Video on August 29. Following episodes will come out weekly, with the season finale scheduled for October 17. Fans have been eagerly awaiting the next installment since the end of Season 1, when it was revealed that Halbrand was actually Sauron.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 1 was a hit on Prime Video, achieving strong viewership and positive reviews, with an 83% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it also faced review bombing, leading to a low audience score of 38%.

Season 2 will see the return of Morfydd Clark and Ismael Cruz Cordova as Galadriel and Arondir, respectively. Robert Aramayo will reprise his role as Elrond, and Charles Edwards will return as Lord Celebrimbor. Patrick Mckay and John D. Payne created the series, based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s famous characters and world.

Will We Learn More About The Stranger in Season 2?

One of the major questions about The Rings of Power is whether The Stranger (Daniel Weyman) is Gandalf or another mysterious figure. Showrunners have hinted that this possibility cannot be completely dismissed.

Weyman himself suggests that viewers might already know The Stranger’s identity after watching Season 1, and that it doesn’t need to be a major reveal. It’s wise to keep expectations in check but remain open to surprises.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 starts on August 29. Check out the new poster and catch up on the first season on Prime Video.
