Netflix is bringing Haunted Hotel back for another round of supernatural chaos, with the official trailer for Season 2 now released ahead of the series’ October 9, 2026, premiere. Created by Matt Roller, known for his work on Rick and Morty, the adult animated horror comedy will return with eight 30-minute episodes.

The new season continues the story of Katherine Freeling, a single mother attempting to operate the Undervale Hotel despite its increasingly ridiculous collection of ghosts, monsters and supernatural problems. Her unusual household includes her ghostly brother Nathan, her children Ben and Esther, and Abaddon, an ancient demon whose soul is trapped inside the body of a young Puritan boy.

Haunted Hotel Season 2 Expands Its Supernatural Mayhem

The newly released trailer teases another season filled with strange entities and increasingly dangerous paranormal situations. Netflix and the show’s production team are promising “new ghosts” alongside supernatural threats that the characters have yet to encounter.

Season 2 will continue building on the unusual combination of workplace comedy, family drama and horror that defines Haunted Hotel. Rather than simply dealing with haunted guests, Katherine must balance running a business with managing supernatural beings who have effectively become part of her family.

The series’ central concept came from Roller’s desire to combine his experience working on animated comedy with his longstanding interest in horror. Speaking with TV Insider, Roller explained that he wanted to create something that could deliver the kind of unpredictable storytelling he enjoyed on Rick and Morty while focusing on horror.

“I wanted to create a horror version of Rick and Morty,”

Roller said, while clarifying that the concept was not intended as a direct one-to-one conversion of the earlier series. He explained that he wanted a world where he could explore horror stories and references over an extended period.

Will Forte and Eliza Coupe Lead the Returning Cast

The Season 2 cast includes Will Forte as Nathan, Eliza Coupe as Katherine, Skyler Gisondo as Ben, Natalie Palamides as Esther and Jimmi Simpson as Abaddon.

Roller serves as creator and executive producer alongside Chris McKenna, Dan Harmon and Steve Levy. Erica Hayes, who has worked on Rick and Morty, serves as supervising director.

Animation studio Titmouse is producing the series, with Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio and Ben Kalina also serving as executive producers.

Haunted Hotel Season 2 premieres on Netflix on October 9, 2026, with all eight episodes running approximately 30 minutes each. The first season is currently available to stream on Netflix.
