Netflix is expanding its One Piece universe once again with a brand-new LEGO One Piece animated special. Just months after the successful release of the live-action series’ second season, the streaming giant has confirmed that the Straw Hat Pirates will return in a two-part LEGO adventure premiering on September 29, 2026.
The project is part of Netflix’s growing investment in Eiichiro Oda’s beloved franchise, joining the upcoming anime remake The One Piece and the already announced live-action Season 3.
The latest announcement also confirms that the familiar cast from Netflix’s live-action adaptation will lend their voices to their brick-built counterparts, giving fans another chance to sail alongside Luffy and his crew in a completely different style.
Live-Action Cast Returns for LEGO Adventure
Collider exclusively revealed that the core cast of Netflix’s live-action One Piece will reprise their roles in the animated special. That includes Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp, Taz Skylar as Sanji, and Mikaela Hoover as Tony Tony Chopper, who joined the crew during Season 2.
Several supporting characters will also return, including Jeff Ward as Buggy, Katey Sagal as Dr. Kureha, Charithra Chandran as Vivi (Miss Wednesday), and Callum Kerr as Marine Captain Smoker. Alongside the casting announcement, a first-look image of LEGO Usopp and a short teaser featuring a single LEGO brick from the Going Merry were also revealed.
Rather than telling an entirely new story, the special revisits the events of the first two live-action seasons through a humorous LEGO lens.
According to Netflix, the story is framed around Usopp, described as the crew’s
“reliably unreliable narrator,”
who recounts the Straw Hats’ adventures to Chopper after the young reindeer joins the crew.
The two-part special will revisit iconic moments from the East Blue saga through the crew’s arrival in the Grand Line, including battles against the Arlong Pirates and Baroque Works. The LEGO format promises plenty of slapstick comedy while remaining accessible for newcomers and rewarding longtime fans familiar with Eiichiro Oda’s legendary manga.
Atomic Cartoons Leads the Production
The special is produced through a collaboration between Netflix, The LEGO Group, Shueisha, and Atomic Cartoons, the Vancouver-based studio known for projects such as LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy. Tom Hyndman serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer, while Eiichiro Oda is among the executive producers overseeing the project alongside representatives from LEGO and Tomorrow Studios.
Netflix previously described the upcoming project as
“a two-part visual spectacle”
that serves as
“the perfect entryway for new recruits and an exciting new perspective for veteran pirates.”
The company also highlighted the broader expansion of the franchise, which includes One Piece: The Battle of Alabasta (live-action Season 3) and The One Piece, Studio WIT’s upcoming anime remake.
With the live-action adaptation continuing to be one of Netflix’s biggest global franchises, the LEGO special looks set to bridge the gap until the Straw Hats return for their next major adventure.
