Netflix is seeing advertising become an increasingly important part of its business after nearly doubling its U.S. advertising commitments during its 2026 Upfront. The streaming company announced the milestone on August 10, saying it had finalized agreements with partners across all major agency groups as advertisers showed stronger interest in its growing advertising business.
The development comes as Netflix continues building an advertising operation designed to complement its subscription business. Its expanding Ads Suite is giving advertisers more ways to purchase inventory, reach audiences and create interactive campaigns across the platform.
Netflix’s advertising business gains momentum
Netflix President of Advertising Amy Reinhard said the company had “nearly doubled” its ad commitments during this year’s U.S. Upfront, in line with its expectations. According to Netflix, advertisers were particularly interested in Netflix’s programming, including Love Is Blind, Bridgerton, Emily in Paris, Nobody Wants This and Running Point.
Live programming is also becoming an important component of Netflix’s advertising strategy. The company highlighted NFL games, WWE and MLB, while demand for advertising around the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup has been especially strong. Netflix said game sponsorships for the tournament have already sold out, while nearly all available in-game advertising inventory has been sold.

Netflix is also expanding the technology behind its advertising business. Its Ads Suite now supports programmatic transactions through platforms including Google Display & Video 360, Amazon, Yahoo and The Trade Desk.
The company has also expanded interactive advertising with formats such as Send to Phone and Frame Ads. Its AI-powered creative tools can help advertisers generate Pause Ads from existing marketing assets, while its Conversion, Reach and Audience APIs are designed to optimize campaigns using real-time data.
The Media Rating Council has also granted Netflix Ads Suite its first accreditation, covering the processing and reporting of U.S. in-stream video impressions across connected TV, mobile apps and desktop web.
With Netflix expecting advertising revenue to roughly double in 2026 to around $3 billion, the latest Upfront results suggest the company is gaining momentum in turning its large viewing audience into a significant advertising business.
