Japanese three-piece band muque released “いいんじゃない Just As You Are” as its first television drama theme song.

Japanese band muque has released “いいんじゃない Just As You Are,” a new pop single serving as the theme song for 南田南弁護士は天才肌 (Extraordinary Attorney Minami), starring Mana Ashida. Released on October 20, 2026, the track marks the group’s first time creating a theme song for a television drama.

Built around a message of self-acceptance, “Just As You Are” explores the challenges of finding your place in society while steering relationships with other people. Its lyrics offer gentle reassurance to listeners who feel pressure to change themselves to fit in, reflecting the journey of the drama’s central character.

The series follows Minami, a rookie lawyer with autism spectrum disorder, as she confronts social challenges and takes on difficult cases through her distinctive perspective and flashes of insight. The song was written with Minami’s experiences in mind, connecting muque’s warm pop sound with the drama’s themes.

After experimenting with a wide range of musical styles, muque brings its influences together in a refined J-pop track that balances accessibility with emotional sincerity.

“Just As You Are” Reflects muque’s Musical Identity

The single represents a new step for muque, a three-piece band consisting of vocalist and guitarist Asakura, drummer and track-maker takachi, and guitarist Kenichi. The group’s sound combines contemporary global influences with melodies that carry a subtle Japanese sensibility.

Takachi leads much of the track-making and arrangement process, while Asakura develops the lyrics and toplines. Her expressive vocals bring emotional depth to the band’s music, helping establish its distinctive sound.

Illustrator HIZGI created the cover artwork for muque’s “Just As You Are,” continuing the blue-haired character’s visual story.

The single’s cover artwork also continues a visual story. Illustrator HIZGI, who created the artwork for muque’s previous release “たりない Still Not Enough,” returns with the blue-haired girl from that cover. This time, the character wears a father-cat puppet, adding another playful detail to the illustration.

Following the release of “Just As You Are,” muque will begin celebrating its fifth anniversary with a concert titled “SAVE POINT.” The show is scheduled for Friday, February 5, 2027, at KT Zepp Yokohama in Kanagawa.

The band’s name combines musique, the French word for music, with muku, a Japanese word associated with purity and innocence. That idea reflects muque’s creative philosophy of pursuing its preferred sound without being dictated by passing trends.

With its first drama theme song, muque brings that philosophy to a track centered on a simple message: finding your place does not mean changing who you are.
