Kate Winslet’s upcoming role will have her portray Lee Miller, a model who became a photographer to document the horrors of World War II for Vogue magazine. Total Film has shared a new image from the film.

Directed by Ellen Kuras, the biopic will reveal Miller’s remarkable journey as she changes her career path and experiences a significant part of history. In the new image, Winslet is shown in the midst of the war, camera in hand, ready to reveal the realities of one of the most tragic events in history.

Lee Miller, born in 1907, was a successful model in the United States and Europe. While in Paris, she developed an interest in art photography and became skilled with a camera.

The Cast of ‘Lee’

When World War II began, it dramatically affected everyone in Europe. Miller felt compelled to act and enlisted as a photographer. She captured the brave nurses trying to save soldiers during the war. After the conflict, Miller returned to covering fashion and celebrities, but her experiences were unforgettable.

The film “Lee” was directed by Ellen Kuras, with a screenplay by Liz Hannah, John Collee, and Marion Hume, and is based on Antony Penrose’s book, “The Lives of Lee Miller.”

It had its world premiere at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival but will hit U.S. theaters later this year. Roadside Attraction and Vertical have the U.S. distribution rights.

The film features a talented supporting cast. Marion Cotillard plays Solange d’Ayen, an important person at Vogue for Miller. Andy Samberg plays David Scherman, who helped Miller discover her passion for photography. Josh O’Connor, known from this year’s “Challengers,” will appear as Antony Penrose.
